I knew that many (black?) posters were wrong a few weeks ago...

The conventional wisdom among some people several weeks ago was that white people wouldn't vote for Obama. My sense was that many of these posters, who support Obama were black because they thought race would play a big role in keeping white people from voting for Obama.

I wanted to speak up and say, YOU'RE WRONG! I didn't think that race would keep white voters away. I think I was right now. From yesterday, I think the numbers show that Obama got 44% of the white vote. That may not be a majority, and there may be some racism involved (MAY not definitely), but the theory that Obama can't get the white vote has been proven WRONG!

GOBAMA!

just fucking vanish.

and you say 'BLACK?' how about kissing my black ass for fuck sake. In the past few years we've had black people tied to the bumpers of fucking trucks and dragged to their deaths.

White people still grab their purses when they see a black person coming

White people still question getting on an elevator alone with black folk

White people are still buying property to prevent black families from moving next door.

Black folks still can't catch cabs

Black folks get sub par healthcare and receive less pain medication

You think that shit is just going to vanish becaues of Obama? PHUHLEEZ.

FUCK NO

IF a white guy won't allow his pure pink little baby white daughter to date a black man you think they are going to vote for one to be president.

And, if you question my blackness again and I swear you'll never evah live that shit down.

10. You think with all the racist shit going on in the US today...a black man can be president?
I just don't believe it. With that said, I'm voting for the nominee,

But I can't see a regular old white person who still believes the stereotypes voting for a black man. There are so many more of them then there are of us.

People have called the cops on my dad when he's driving around in his mercedes...thinking he stole it.

That shit happens EVERY DAY...and you think with all that shit..little shit happening every day they are going to allow a black man to win?

16. I dont see your America....
....

You are right about white people that are over 50.

Those under 50 grew up in a different age, and are MUCH MUCH less racist than their parents and grandparents.

The exit polling bears this out. Obama is WINNING among whites that are under 50, not just holding his own.

The stuff you talk about is a relic of the "old guard". In 50 years, most of the racists will have died off.

It's a new age. I'm a white man, 41 years old, and I haven't run into a single white person who has a problem with Obama's race. Not one.

by grabbing their purses, staring at me when I get gas, locking their car doors when I walk by.
following me in stores,
etc...

When that shit goes away and people don't react to me because of my colour then great.

When they aren't putting black boys in jail for having oral sex with white girls...then call me.

You think with all that crap going on they are willing to vote for a black man to run the country? Puhleez.

Do you think there are such people who would have voted for the Democrat otherwise? And this would apply to Hillary too. Those same people, and some of them may be other than white, will never believe a woman can do it.

19. Honestly Xultar, I don't know.
They said a black man could never be Gov in MA. But it happened. On the other hand I think you have a really valid argument.

I wish this whole conversation was looked on with the same absurdity that one would think of if someone said a brown-eyed person could never be president. Maybe someday.

30. You may be right about the prospects of a Black man becoming president, but letting racists
tell us what to do is not the answer either.

To some extent this is a "chicken and the egg" issue. You would say "You can't elect a Black president because of racism." Another might say "Electing a Black will help us deal with racism."

Your opinion is as good as mine. Perhaps "Now is not the time." "This election is too important." These beg the questions "When will the time be right? And how will we know if the time is ever right, unless someone actually tries." I am sure that women, African Americans, and other minorities have heard "The time is not right" and "There are more important things at stake here. Just wait a while" more times than they wish to count.

14. I'm informing the OP who questions the blackness of posters who say Obama can't win.in the GE.
Fuck the primaries. It's a dream I'm talking about the GE.

i'm reminding the OP that racism still exists and when push come s to shove...and they go to the voting booth, racism will win...again.

And the poster questioned the 'blackness' of posters who stated a particular point of view.

That fuckin shit pissed me the fuck off.

I HATE it when white people do that.

32. But he never did that.
You're so eager to pounce on someone, anyone, for "questioning your blackness" (whatever the f*ck that means) that you're apparently bound and determined that if a white person utters the word "black" in any way, shape, or form, this dreaded crime of "questioning your blackness" must have occurred.

If you want your anger to be respected -- and I'm sure you've got plenty of entirely valid reasons to be mightily pissed, some of which you've already listed -- you can't go around unleashing that anger at the slightest illusory provocation, against people who've done you no wrong.

the OP did not deserve your reaction at all. It is a sign of hope that we have an African American AND a Woman as our choices at all. The poster just wanted to point out that our conventional wisdom about alot of our fellow citizens may be wrong. And the young are getting more involved. Can you not feel the hope from that? Hell, your dog even voted! Feel the Hope. Feel the Change. Please?

Nothing the op stated has anything to do with what you wrote. All he/she pointed out was the statistics that Obama has the capacity to break racial lines, and in some places, won the majority of male white voters. Your "blackness" as you put it.. was not in question, nor is someones dating habits. Think before you attack someone.

39. I'm with xultar on this. I worry about the GE for BOTH of our candidates
The Republicans for many years have been playing a subtle racism game in getting voter support. And the abortion issue is certainly in great part about "putting women in their place."

I think either candidate will have an uphill battle with Republican voter. And yes, racism will rear its ugly head. Just because no one has come out with overt racist speech against Obama doesn't mean the feelings aren't there. There are lots of Repugs who listened happily to Don Imus and to Limbaugh, calling NOLA MAyor Nagin "Mayor Nager". And I don't have to tell you what the pugs say about Hillary CLinton.

What does cheer me up is that independents, who will probably sway the GE, seem to like Obama and might abandon McCain for Obama on election day.

But don't mistake Obama's wins among Democrats for potential Republican support.

So people can be put face to face with the depths of their racist feelings.

Everything is fine with blacks until, we move into their neighborhoods, start dating their children, wanting them to invite us over to their homes for dinner, etc.
