I think it's safe to say I'm obsessed. |
|
My boyfriend and I fell asleep last night after hearing the results from California and Missouri; but apparently my brain was in double overtime.
My dream/nightmare was so real, so vivid....enough that it was the first thing I spoke of when I woke up this morning:
It's official. It's Clinton/Obama and McCain/Huckabee. OH....MY....GOD.
I see the GOP campaign ads - and I start to panic as I hear the McCain/Huckabee promises of protecting our country: keeping the terrorists off our soil by continuing the War on Terror in the Middle East; focusing on the sanctity of life and the sanctity of marriage; bringing back the values that makes this great place a "Christian Nation".
I see the Democrat campaign ads - and I hear the familiar words "change" and "hope" mixed in with "universal healthcare" and "education" and "middle class".
And I'm screaming inside. I'm frantic. I'm saying "THAT won't work, Hillary and Barack. It's not going to work for the independents who are on the fence; or the centrists who are torn by wanting their country back, but subconsciously still in fear of another 9/11; or the Republicans who don't want another 8 years of a Bush agenda, but see the two of you as the extreme opposite of what their party envisions for America. If you're gonna win this thing, you have to wake up these sleeping, ignorant, apathetic voters to what their reality will be if they go Republican."
I see the campaign ad. It's so easy, really. It doesn't smear or mudsling; what it does is show a very probable scenario.
The ad starts with John McCain's famous singing solo of "Bomb, bomb Iran" sung to the tune of "Barbara Ann".....followed by the spreadsheets of military recruitments clearly showing the lowest numbers we've ever seen....followed by a black screen with only the words "Tell your sons and daughters to look for their draft cards in the mail".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maybe I'm wrong, but I truly believe that no matter what the party or position....be it Republican, Democrat, Independent, Libertarian...."draft" is one word that ALL Americans cringe at.
Dare to dream.
4. Edwards was on my ballot so I voted for him |
|
We Democrats have no anti-war candidate this time. We plainly said in 2006 we wanted out and we wanted accountability for all the theft and lies. Does this "centrist" candidate election negate that?
The Dems negated Edwards before Super Tuesday which was suspicious in the first place.
And to think that my alarm actually plays "Hail to the Chief"!
I've always loved that song....I know, I'm a loon. :)
