Americans are starting to realize that Obama is more style then substance. |
|
It is becoming clear as more and more Americans take a close sober look at Barack Obama’s past they will find that there is not one major accomplishment in his carrier.
On super Tuesday Hillary Clinton got the popular vote and captured the majority of the delegates and supper delegates. The upcoming map favors Hillary. Virginia, Maryland and DC may tip to Obama but Hillary will win the big states of Pennsylvania Ohio and Texas. Come convention time the delegates from Florida and Michigan will demand to be seated and that will put Hillary over the top for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.
Obama supporters have to ask them selves’ one question. Has Barack Obama ever governed the way he preaches? I think they will find that there is only one answerer.

States and delegate-rich districts. Let Barack have his 13 States. The States she focused on -- and won -- were the ones that mattered delegate-wise and she appears to be doing well delegate-wise even in States she lost simply because of the Districts she's drawing from.

24. Yes: "open". Winning open states is what matters |
|
McCain has a history of winning "open" primaries too. In both cases it's a sign that they actually have a chance of winning contested states.
We have written off the land between the Mississippi and the Sierra Nevada for decades and it keeps making us lose.
As a slightly-bitter aside, I can't stop laughing when I hear Obama supporters called naive by people who think the solid and consistent negative view of Hillary Clinton among a large part of the country is somehow going to vanish.

had "open" primary and Caucus's.......meaning that many repuke voters joined in just to fuck with the Dem Primary and voted for Obama because they know he can't win in the GE.....and they will now go about their pathetic lives and not vote for him in the GE this Nov.
that is why the repuke owned corporate and their media whores are also pushing for Obama too....all morning not barely a word about any of Clinton's wins and playing clips only of Obama's speech and McCains speeches..... have to ask yourself why
let me tell you.....this has been the rove/gop/corporate plan since Boston.....I do hope everyone understands this

Umm... no. They voted for him because they want him to be President.
This is the same sour grapes "entitlement" nonsense that * used to railroad McCain in 2000.

|
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 11:36 AM by Straight Shooter
I think that was Michigan. I've slept since then, as they say, so I could be wrong on the state. Anyway, Romney, who wasn't looking too good, scored a win. kos did this to keep Romney in the running and screw with McCain's chances, IIRC.
So, tell me, if the good decent Dems are willing to cheapen themselves by crossing over to cast a vote for a Repub, what makes you think the Repubs won't play the same game.
My take on this election is all bets are off, none of the rules apply, everything is speculation and a prayer from here on out.

Repubs aren't political neophytes. They know how to mess with people's minds.
We'll never know how many crossover votes went to Barack, or, for that matter, to Hillary. I'm certainly willing to believe many voted for Hillary to enhance her chances of being the nominee, if they see her as easier to beat. OTOH, if the Repubs lately perceived that Barack is the one to beat, because he does seem to be the antitheses to their conservative ways (his rock star status), they would then vote for him because he would, frankly, look inexperienced compared to McCain.

IMO Obama is in a better position right now than Hillary. Obama is the underdog in this race, and for it to be as close as it was last night proves his message is resonating. Hello!? Hillary was ahead 2 weeks ago by like 15% in national polls.

6. And now Obama spin to counter your Clinton spin |
|
- Obama blew up the notion that he was the "black" candidate.
- He made up 20 and 30 point margins in EVERY state in a matter of a week.
- He actually won more delegates overall, unlike what you falsely stated.
- He won more states overall and showed that he can run well in RED states.
- He beat Clinton in states right outside her home like Connecticut and Delaware.
- He swept through every caucus.
- He won the important state of Missouri.
- The rest of the calendar, especially in the next month, HEAVILY favors Obama.
Now, all that being said, what you said is essentially true (except by saying that Clinton won more delegates). So...who won last night? They both did. They tied.

of course the races tightened up. this is the first time anyone in these states had to care about the primary, and I think that they only started to pay attention in the past two weeks. I know a lot of people in Super Tuesday states (and the upcoming ones) who have never had a meaningful primary vote, they've never had to pay attention, so they haven't until the very recent past.
so early on, they said "eh, whoever" which was basically the frontrunner. once they started to pay attention, the race tightened up. The same thing happens in the last two weeks of November in most races, the average person doesn't have the time or inclination to pay attention to politics in other states until it begins to become imminent and important. two weeks ago, people in California, Missouri, Massachusetts, North Dakota and the rest were thinking about what to make for dinner, how to pay the electric bill, get junior to soccer practice, whatever. Polls are useless before the campaign actually starts somewhere.

your butt. Look, genius, it's about as close as a race can possibly be, and anyone who actually bothers to really listen to Obama and to go to his site and read, realizes that he's certanily not short on substance. He did incredibly well yesterday against the DLC/Clinton machine- including winning in her backyard. And what shit you're spewing, he's an extremely accomplished man, just as she's an accomplished woman. Only an ugly partisan would deny that fact. TX is by no means a fait accomplis. He's made big strides there, and he'll get a lot of momentum from his upcoming wins in LA, NE, DC, VT, MD and other states. Not to mention the little fact that he's outraising her 3 to 1.

The economy is once again dominating as a major issue factoring into people's considerations of the person they want as POTUS. Barack and Hillary need to square off in another debate and focus in on this issue.
I would like to see a series of debates taken issue by issue, not this piecemeal type of Q&A we've been subjected to.

delegates, unless they are chosen in new primaries or caucuses with full campaigning like any other state (in which case they should be seated, no question).
I hope the convention and the superdelegates select the candidate with the most elected delegates (hopefully, with Michigan and Florida delegates selected anew). Any other choice will cause there to be a lot of disillusioned supporters of the candidate who had done better by the rules (accumulating delegates) and then get sent packing.

So if Hillary had got the repug crossover like Obama did, would she win those states in the fall? I think not. The repugs are crossing over to vote for Obama because that’s who they want to go against this fall; he is an easier target for them.
Wake up and smell the LSD!

I can only hope that you're right and that substance will indeed win out in the end.Hillary is the Woman for The Times and I too believe after last nights races the country is voting with their heads and not just their hearts. This is too important a time and too important a position to give it to someone like Barack Obama.
If it goes to convention and the Party ends up deciding this for us I can only imagine that that truth will prevail and Hillary Clinton will be our Nominee.

63. So does this imply that Hillary has more substance? NOOOOO!!! That's why I stick with Edwards... |
|
... now for the time being. If he starts putting more substance in his campaign, then he'll have her beat in both style and substance.

Obama wasn't expected to be even close, much less come out ahead. He's got some serious momentum right now.
Lack of substance > wrong substance.
