Why are people claiming victory? |
|
Last night was a virtual tie.
The delegate count keeps changing, and neither person has the advantage.
Barack Obama people are saying he won more states, but winning on paper is only so much. It's about the delegates.
Hillary Clinton people are saying she won the popular vote, which is right. And I'm happy about that, but let's see how many delegates she gets.
How are you guys claiming victory when we left Super Tuesday in the same tie we came into it with?
If I had to bet money, however...I'd bet it on Hillary!

the coming primaries all favor Obama. hillary won her best states already. The rest of the delegates are more than likely going to go Obama's way.

3. Towards the primary, New Hampshire favored Obama. How'd that work out? |
|
And delegates, delegates, delegates.
Win all the states you want. Delegates are what matters.

6. so how is Hillary going to win delegates |
|
if all the coming states seem to favor obama.
And I think after yesterday, it's obvious Obama resonates better in the middle of the nation and Western states than Clinton does. That, and the polls, gives us a pretty sure picture.

7. Polls give us a pretty sure picture? Didn't in New Hampshire, did they? |
|
They had Barack considerably ahead.
And Hillary won.

10. what did yesterday show you? |

That beyond The Northeast and California, it's more likely that Obama will get the votes.
He appeals more to the South, both whites and blacks. And he's gotten states like Colorado as well.
You think what you like. I'm actually very calm about the prospects of Obama being the nominee. I think Hillary's best hits in this fight just passed, and considering she was the frontrunner and establishment candidate, the fact that Obama has made it a a near tie in delegates, and has won MORE states signifies to me that we've only seen the tip of the iceberg of his campaign.
I look forward to Hillary's concession speech.

2. He clearly won more delegates out of the actual vote count |
|
without superdelegates.
I agree however, that its a tie. Both candidates essentially start from scratch today...

4. He had to carve a clear path to the nomination with more than a small lead in delegates. |
|
So yes, it's back to a tie.

5. I think it's a tie, too. Neither camp should get overly confident or start bragging. |

Obama got 40% of the delegates from New York State that is not too bad. 90 to 94 delegates.
And Obama is looking real good for the next contests.

12. It's about the Super Delegates! |
|
40% of the Convention rests on their choice.

13. Wouldn't that almost favor Hillary? |
|
And if it's close, like it is, months from now--I think Dean will count FL and MI.
So it's funny watching Obama supporters claim victory, and pretend they have the nomination clinched. Not even close.

16. If this were a football game, it would be 10-10 at halftime. |
|
But Barack has the ball and Hillary will be on defense for most of the 3rd quarter.
If you look at the primaries and caucuses coming up over the next few weeks.
