Red state primary win - not indicator of GE result
Different voters are coming _ democrats, vs everyone.
And in open primaries - the GOP-ers, independent may not be voting for a winner in the other party's primary, but quite the opposite (remember the movement to vote for Romney in MI?
Those obama votes last night that make some so sure he'd turn around some states in November, were Bushies voting against Hillary.
Not saying we might not turn some red states blue, or that either dem candidate can't win in November - they can!
Just trying to clear confusions.

1. You're deluded
If you think the Republicans are afraid of Hillary. She's the only answer to their McCainophobia.

3. I don't know about afraid. They - some of them - hate the Clintons.
Please, do yourself a favor: read the Hunting of the President. You'll be surprised to discover - both our candidates have THE SAME ENEMIES.

5. You're Deluded
If you think the Clintons are afraid of McCain... They will make the unpopular George Bush* his "running mate" as they made the unpopular Newt Gingrich Bob Dole's 1996 running mate...They so got under Dole's skin that he literally said "Newt Gingrich is not my running mate."

The Clintons' are fighting Obama with one hand tied behind their backs because there are limits to how much you trash a fellow Democrat... I intensely dislike most Republicans...For some reason I have a soft spot for McCain...Maybe it's because he doesnt hate gay and Latino folks... I genuinely feel bad at what is about to come his way if Hillary gets the nomination...

7. You may have soft spot for McCain, but just think what he would
do to the Supreme Court if he gets the chance to appoint justices...Scary thought....

I know Rush Limbaugh & the other right wing lunatics are whining about McCain, as not being conservative enough, but McCain has said he'd appoint justices in the Scalia & Thomas mold....So right there, that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that McCain is no moderate at all..

Don't have a soft spot for McCain, given the chance, he'll send this country back to the stone ages with the people he'd appoint on the SCOTUS.....

2. The word for open primary states was get Mc Cain out
The R's are not wasting their votes " voting against Hillary". The "Bushies" as you call them are in a panic over MCCain leading; they want Romney.

6. I know in Dorchester County SC - GOP county - turnout was larger during
Dem primaries than during their own per MSNBC early report.
Not saying they upset the result, but they did raise the percentage.

8. Conservative Red States
Agree with your analysis RobbedVoter. The conservative red states voters are coming out for Obama in their revulsion for Clinton. This trend started in Iowa and got the ball rolling. Have been in contact with some convervative Iowans, and this is exactly what is going on. Good call.

10. So what? Even if you're right...
that doesn't preclude Obama from winning blue states in November should he get the Dem. nomination.

as well as having a Republican candidate they are less interested in personally than promoting their own candidate -- vice the Party as a whole. I do not believe that such is presently the case due to the division with both parties.

With the "open" character of the two main parties' primaries, i.e., no clear front runner to thwart, the OP's analysis goes out the window.
The "God, Guns, and Gays" see it as an impertive to get Huckabee delegates. The "100 Years of Anti-Islamofascism War" bunch are intent upon McCain. The Country Club Set, desperate to have Romney delegates.

Were the US to have a second round, it would be the same. Only were there a third round would the analysis of "thwarting" be true, in my eyes. The various camps of the Republican Party are simply too busy vying for demonstrating their own camp's agenda within the party right now to worry about the general election.

Of course, that is my own analysis, and no more worthy than that of any other person's.

12. You have not a clue
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 11:59 AM by IDemo
The overwhelming support here in Boise last night for Obama was unmistakable, and the cheers from his supporters were deafening. 6,500 crowded into Qwest Arena with an overflow crowd waiting outside. Over 14,000 showed up Saturday for his rally as well, with thousands more turned away. Were these Bushies as well?
