I think Hillary can win Washington State
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 12:13 PM by ProudToBeLiberal
First of all, Hillary has institutional support among Asians, like in Korean Town in Tacoma, and the international district in Seattle. Plus, Former Governor Gary Locke endorsed her, which will help among the Chinese-American population.

Second, Washington State likes to elect women for office. It has two woman senators and a woman governor.

Third Ron Sim, the county executive of King County has endorsed Hillary Clinton. Obama should have the edge in seattle, but Ron Sims will make it close.

Hillary will take Pierce County, especially in the ship building areas, such as Bremerton and Tacoma.

So far, the two Senators and the LT. Gov has endorsed Hillary.

Honestly, I think the margin of victory will come from the Asian population. It'll be close, but mark my words, Hillary will win.

2. Does it matter? The delegates are assigned proportionally, so a close race splits the delegates.

5. If it's a tie, Hillary Wins
As long as Obama doesn't get the momentum, Hillary can win Ohio, Penn, and Texas.

9. Asian community leaders will turn them out.
Especially the asian ministers, business, and community leaders will.

However, the only problem I see is that a lot of the Asian pop in WA are undocumented.

11. Well Feb. 3 poll has Obama 53%, Clinton 40% and on Oct 28 it was Clinton 44% Obama 29%
Obama does well in caucuses.
He does well when he campaigns fully in a state.

I'd say it's an uphill battle for Hillary.

14. Well
just like they under estimated Asian support in California, I think they are underestimating their support in WA. But, if Hillary can't keep it close in Seattle, it's pretty much Obama's victory. I'm just assuming that Ron Sims machine can keep in close.

20. SurveyUSA nailed Cali, and they are the poll that did WA. They had Asians at 12%
Which I think was pretty close. CNN exit polls show that 11% of the voters were non white, blacks, and latinos.

13. OTOH...
<snip>

In Washington State, the biggest prize available this weekend, a total of 68 delegates will be decided in caucuses. Four years ago, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean did better in Washington than he did in any place outside his home state and the District of Columbia. Washington is one of the most highly educated states in the country, and the dominance of white Seattle liberals in the electorate could favor Obama heavily.

Washington State political watchers on both sides of the contest agree Obama has the leg up. Clinton backers privately admit that their candidate will likely lose on Saturday, while Obama supporters play up their organizational advantages and speak confidently of wins throughout the liberal western half of the state, from which most delegates will be allocated.

but, I'm saying is that if Ron Sims can't keep it close in King County, Hillary has a chance to win.

15. I see Barack taking Washington, with a big boost from Seattle.
Does anyone know if he's giving a celebrity-studded rally there? Seattle would be the place to do it. It's a great city. I was thrilled when they went for Howard Dean.

17. WA is a caucus state, and
Obama has won 7 out of 8 caucus states, each with considerable margin, like the one I went to last night in Denver.

Obama won by a 2-to-1 margin. The reason I think - Obama people are more energized to take the trouble to go to caucus.

31. In suburban Snohomish County
My family of three, who were all Edwards supporters, will now be standing on Sat for Obama. The caucus is how the delegates are decided not the primary. It's important that we all get out on Sat to stand for our candidate.
