Time's Marc Halperin: Why Would The Clintons Self-Fund All of a Sudden?
HALPERIN’S TAKE: Why Would the Clintons Self-Fund All of a Sudden?

1. They were spooked by Obama’s monster January fundraising haul.

2. An old rule they learned in Arkansas: never lose an election because you are outspent on TV ads.

3. They have more personal wealth than ever before.

4. They knew that a bad Super Tuesday could have ended her campaign.

5. The pool of wealthy donors not infected with Clinton Fatigue is largely maxed out and tapped out.

6. Because they are from the Al Davis school of politics: Just win, baby.

9. the source is Clinton's campaign
asked this morning whether the Clintons are funding their own campaign.
Clinton aide Howard Wolfson on the morning's conference call said he doesn't know, but he'd ask.

If the answer was no they would have just said no.
If the Clinton's are tapping into their own pocket books is that good news or bad news for her campaign?

Late last month Senator Clinton loaned her campaign $5 million. The loan illustrates Sen. 17. I agree
she'll do better this month in fund raising than last month.
Though I think Obama will still be ahead in donations.

No matter what after this nomination gets settled it's clear the american public is willing to open their wallets to beat the Republicans :)

4. Reason: Bill can make that up with third world dictators & oil men
So it's not really their money. You don't really think they're spending THEIR money do you? If they're self funding, that means they're probably getting inappropriate "help" from some of their more sordid contacts.

I'll be interested in seeing where the money trail leads.

13. Be careful about insinuating connections to unsavory characters.
Barack's campaign may be dealing with handling such insinuations in the near future, and most Americans will not bother to delve into the details.

21. She's been self-funding since last quarter
none of us paid attention.

She transfered $10 million from her senate campaign funds to her presidential campaign funds last quarter.
