Hillary was below 40% in 9 States, Obama only in 2. This is why he won Super Tuesday. |
|
Hillary
<40% Colorado (32%) Georgia (31%) Illinois (33%) Minnesota (32%) North Dakota (37%) Utah (39%)
<30% Alaska (25%) Kansas (26%)
<20% Idaho (17%)
***
Obama
<40% Oklahoma (31%)
<30% Arkansas (27%)
***
This is why he won Super Tuesday.
He is employing the 50-State Strategy beautifully.
This is the intended purpose of the delegate system, to assure that all of the country has a say in choosing our President, not just the major population centers. It is finally working as it should.
Hillary has won some big States, but they did not give her assured Victory, as they have done in the past.
The playing field has now become balanced. There are not enough big states left for Hillary to bully her way to the nomination. She must now compete in the rest of the country, and based on last night's results, that prospect is not looking too good for her.
Will this be the year that widespread national grassroots support upends the Party Machine once and for all?
Yes we can!

3. this is the vision of Howard Dean, he told us we coul and should be able to win in red states. Its |
|
not enough to win just bicoastal. Another point is that Obama was above 70% in three to four states, haven't looked this morning to be really accurate, but Hillary was only above 70% in one, maybe two.

8. It was a foregone conclusion |
|
that a Democrat would win the Democratic primary in even the reddest of states.
I don't quite get the argument many are making - that somehow it's a sign of something significant that a particular Dem won dem primaries.

5. Funny how some of us now embrace electoral politics. Once upon a |
|
time, the candidate who got the most votes was considerd the winner.

10. Our forefathers set it up like this for a reason |
|
People are not all the same all across the country, yet they all deserve representation in the Electoral process.
Just because New York has more people than Kansas, doesn't mean Kansas should never have any input in National Politics just because it can't win in a Popular vote matchup.
In fact, this is also why there are States in the first place. If People thought the same all over we could just have one United State.
But Politics are determined by locality, so a proportional system was set up to give localities with lower populations equal voices.
You know all this, I'm sure.
I find it telling that Hillary has become the Champion of the Popular Vote now that she is losing the delegate race.

11. Those States used to be the Pathway because they assured more delegates |
|
Unfortunately for you, Obama won more delegates overall last night.
His victory breaks all the old rules Hillary was trying to play by.
Now, there are not enough large states left for her to clinch the nomination, last night was her big shot. Her lackluster showing in most states suggests it may have been her last shot.
You'll see Checkmate in 3 days. Enjoy!

I think it's called voting. You know that thing where people decide who they want as the nominee and then mark ballots.
