I am growing ever more tired and fearful of "experience" - that highly regarded quality of so many current candidates for public office. Experience has got us where we are today - trillions in debt, involved in a baseless, badly managed "war" in Iraq and Afghanistan, and with an indefensible tax policy that cuts taxes for the rich while spending more and more for things like war and "Homeland Security" - which are basically corporate welfare programs.

Experience has told our leaders that the politically safe play is to fund these boondoggles without any oversight, and to ignore the "supplemental" moniker applied to the extra-budget billions. Experience has made irresponsibility our leaders' stock in trade. It has brought us unprosecuted criminal and extra-constitutional activity on practically daily basis by the Bush administration. Experience has taught our leaders that if you stay away from the fire, you don't get burned. Then you just wait for a sea change and your turn in the limelight.

Enough. This kind of experience is turning this country into a fascist state at the worst, a plutocracy at best. It is time for a new experience.

That new experience will have to be Barack Obama.
