NYC Duers: Did you have any of these problems yesterday?
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 03:18 PM by sfexpat2000
This AP report says "a few scattered problems" but another source says more than 10 precincts in Brooklyn alone. (The media always says "a few scattered problems". They said that about Ohio, iirc.

In NY, a few scattered voting problems on busy primary day
Published: Wednesday, February 06, 2008

NEW YORK - Voters around the state encountered scattered problems at the polls Tuesday, where mechanical difficulties and registration issues kept some from immediately casting their vote.

Voter assistance hot lines logged hundreds of calls, but election officials and advocates said it was too early to tell whether voters experienced more trouble than usual.

Some voting machines jammed in parts of Brooklyn. Board of Elections spokeswoman Valerie Vazquez said the problem was quickly fixed, but Sen. Barack Obama's campaign said it received complaints from voters throughout the day.

The Election Protection hot line received some calls from would-be voters in New York City who arrived at their longtime polling places only to be told their name was no longer on the rolls, said Marjorie Lindblom, a lawyer volunteering with the call center.

This time out, it impacts Obama or Clinton. In November, these problems will affect the Democratic candidate.

1. No problem for me in Brooklyn.
Other than I did not get anything in the mail from the election commission, as I usually do.

3. Good to hear that
If you're not getting the mail you expect, I'd double check my reg between now and November anyway to make sure you are still on the roll. They're implementing the new mandated electroice reg database and you know there will be "booboos" along the way.

2. No problems in Midwood ... here's NY1's report
The Barack Obama button was suck at one polling site in Bedford-Stuyvesant on two different machines.

4. I had no problems.
Although I never got my notification in the mail either. I'm on the East side of Williamsburg.

Those machines are ancient, so I'm not surprised that some of them break down. The Times had an article recently on the full-time staff of mechanics who keep those things working. I like old technology, so I thought it was kind of cool:
