He just might surprise the shit out of her in future debates because the conventional wisdom is she will win the debates so that means very low expectations for Obama

1. I don't think so ... we do mature, you know. He doesn't hold a candle
to her in extemporaneous speech.

4. "Extemporaneous speech" Is that what they're calling lying these days?
If so, then I agree, she is very good at it.

8. Not as bad as her campaign pretending she's a plucky underdog, coming from behind
For christ's sakes the woman was 20 points ahead everywhere not long ago and not only did Obama cut her lead in some states (MA, NJ, and AZ by half), he won a bunch too.

She's been the frontrunner and considered inevitable from the beginning. She's a household name. She should be getting 70% of the votes in every state.

Why isn't she?

11. It Means She Has The Skills Onboard
And the intelligence to think on her feet. Obama still needs lots of help and propping up from his writers and handlers.

12. No, she has memorized scripts.
I've worked with politicians for years and I recognize canned rhetoric and "pivot" answers very easily. They were on display clearly when Stephanopoulus put her on the spot about health care mandates. The first 2 times she was asked she tried to bullshit her way through with scripted talking points and finally, on his 3rd and more emphatic attempt, she made the gaffe about going after people's wages. You could tell she knew she'd fucked up and was trying to spin madly with more talking points.

Clinton rarely answers the question she's asked, she answers the one she wants to answer. Obama does answer the questions he is asked and it's clear that he's thinking about his response. To the untrained ear, like yours, that makes him sound less smooth and glib. But it makes me respect him more.

7. Filibustering and triangulating. But then again, she does a good job digging her own grave.

9. Well the thing is
they have only had a one on one debate once and the primary continues, so it makes sense that they continue to debate until March to show where they stand and contrast, and also to show how they are holding up during the Primary.
