This is an indication of lack of donor support, Romney-like thinking, poor budget management and a bit of desperation. This explains the desire for weekly debates...free TV time before millions of people.

Kerry did it when everyone considered him down and out for the count. Clinton has been raising cash for 15 years for this bid.

7. It was different because he did it before a single primary vote was cast.
She's doing it because she didn't do as well as expected, and the funds for the primaries are drying up for her campaign.

Campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson confirmed that the 5 million loan came at the tail end of January and was included in their 13.5 fund raising total for the month.
