Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 06:51 PM by Tellurian
We're not talking about FREE Publicity here.. We're talking about who is the BEST Candidate for the General Election.

Honestly - I like the man a lot, but his southern preacher love-ins are starting to wear me out.

And I don't want to lie down with Republicans either, all you come away with are fleas, a fast kick in the ass, and cigar burns from Rush Limbaugh.

16. Look
I don't think it's a secret that Hillary is a formidable debater. Why take a chance unnecessarily when everything else is in your favor. He has time, money, momentum on his side.

Ultimately it doesn't matter and is a silly exercise. Debating skills have nothing to do with how strong a president a candidate will be, how much they will accomplish in office etc...

He has no obligation to try to help her campaign out of its hole.

Are you sure you want them debating? Maybe Hillary would do better with planted questions and direct mail suggesting that Obama opposes a woman's choice and surrogates hinting that he's a drug dealing jihadist straight outta da madrassa.

Direct confrontation doesn't work nearly as well for her.

44. Watch your back. watch your knees
The Clintons are nasty, powerful, little people that will tear down whatever they need to - to get what they want.

Bigdog's legacy - shoring up the gains Ray-gun revolution (drug war, free trade, outsourcing, anti-labor, ending welfare and marginalizing liberals) and getting impeached, doesn't sit well for the bigdog.
Only HRC can give the bigdog a legacy.

Obama, be afraid. These people ... beware.

And when you are up against ruthless beings, fear is a must for survival.

I never thought anyone, dem or puke, could beat HRC. I thought she would be crowned before NH.

The fact that this young man is taking on the machine is a testimonial to his courage. I bet David was afraid when he faced Goliath. I bet Jesus was afraid on the way to the cross.

Obama has every right to fear the Clintons. They mess you up!

127. There is nothing to gain from debating
take it to the streets and let the sheeple decide. Both McCain and Clinton would be huge improvements over what we currently have. If she is the nominee and runs a triangulated corporate campaign, I wont help her.
She won't need my help, she is unstoppable. As a supporter of hers, can't you see that BO has no shot. His "chances" are an illusion. This illusion is being kept alive due to our need for drama.

I pray to God that BO sweeps the rest of the primaries, and then beats down Mac.
But I doubt it will happen.
I am sure that HRC will be the next president:(

Why would he want to debate her? He hasn't won a debate with her yet, although he did come close to placing second a few debates back, except Edwards ultimately beat him out for second spot that night.

125. you think all the voters in the upcomming states knew their vote would make a diffrence?
Are you kidding me??
Just so you know, this is the first time in recent history that the nominee wasn't decided by/or on SuperTusday-
Most of the people in the other states have not tuned in. By not debating O's saying he doesn't give a shit about the issues. We've had one president like that, we don't need an second one.

76. Because the debate format is fucking bullshit
I started a thread on this earlier and like all threads of substance in GDP it sunk like an anchor.

If you would like to read it go here.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4443587&mesg_id=4443587

The current debates have no substance, they are merely joint press conferences that favor Hillary because she does better there than on the stump. When Hillary proposes changing the debate rules to let them ask each other questions and really dig into each other then I'll call on Obama to debate her.

85. You forgot "Doesn't want to break the agreements already made,"
Like the one NOT to participate in Fox News debates - or the one where debate schedules were already agreed? But, hey, agreements are made to be broken, aren't they?

There is also the "Doesn't want to give Clinton free adverts," let her spend some explaining how she was against personally financing campaigns before she was for it.

Finally they BOTH have a chance ...one on one (now there's a visual...)to elaborate on the issues...to really lay it out before America..the differences on policy...I think it's the best way forward...we only had one on one ...once! WHY is Obama SO Scared? Well I know...IF he is SO certain about his position..IF he is WILLING to negotiate with our enemies on day one...WHY NOT Debate Hillary again...and KNOCK her out with his Knowledge of Policy Foreign and Domestic...... HIS Ideas ..(In detail) on Change...I mean.. Is Obama gonna run the White House and US..from a Stage chanting "Yes We Can??" Please... People like me and many other's DON'T get Obama...He NEEDS to explain his positions BETTER! Superior minds wanna know...:)

to debate everybody in the race till the primary was over? Do we need to change the rules because someone might not be doing as well as they thought?

This seems to be so typical of people that think they have entitlement. To me it looks like the debate is going okay from the distance .

btw, if you can't win on the issues do you have to win on gotcha's and innuendo
