I will not vote for Obama in the general election. |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 06:52 PM by AGirl
The reason is he is arrogant and dangerous. He represents everything that is wrong with politicians. A lot of his supporters are incredibly rude and dismissive. I will not support this movement. I will write in Clinton in the general election if she doesn't win the nomination so I am voting for the lady regardless.

Many of his supporters here may be assholes (exceptions of course and you know who you are) and he is not my first choice.
But he is definitely better than any GOPer.

He is not my first choice either and it is due to how I have seen people on here defend him even in the face of a factual negative. But I will vote for the nominee, whoever that may be.

And if the poster refuses to vote Dem after the convention - it's time to either be quiet or go home. No place on DU for kinda negative shit.

That's a fact.
She is NOT a progressive. No matter her voting record and no matter his. SHE as a candidate is not progressive. She is a corporate DLCer and that does not a progressive make. So you can say what you like about her votes, but she will never be the progressive that you claim she is.

But if it means stopping Barack Obama...then yes, I would consider voting for the GOP nominee in a heartbeat.

I have made numerous posts here on DU, about what I find disgusting about Obama's campaign. Contrary to your belief, he has NOT been above the fray. - Do you think his campaign was being above the fray, when it released a memo calling Sen. Clinton "Senator Punjab." - Do you think his campaign was being above the fray, when one of Obama's surrogates said that unlike Sen. Clinton, Obama doesn't have "crying fits" on tv and "hasn't waited until he was 60 to find his voice." Anyway....read my previous posts on DU for a truly detailed account of the way Obama has run his campaign: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4240519http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4258098http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4365246http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4366263http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4209279http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4167042

I support Obama but i will vote for Hillary in a GE. I dont think that BO is arrogant or elitist and i dont think HRC is a fruit. Debating the facts is important but you shouldn't forget that what assholes on these boards say has nothing to do with the candidiate.
Ive heard alot of HRC supporters say that the BO people are rude but i must say that i have seen alot more crap from the mouths of those who carry her banner. I don't let this stain how i see her and neither should you.
Both HRC ad BO started to go at each other and it was ripping us apart. They have stopped and now we should as well.
You vote how you like AGirl, its your vote. Let me just say from an Obama supporter that i admire you passion and drive to make America better by doing what you think is right. If Hillary wins in the general, then im with you.

i still think that is a bad idea. Most people who support a politician can be "rude or dismissive" and most politicians have a trace of political arrogance, of course, a lot less than Dubya, but still. We need a democratic president. we cannot let this country turn to shit worse than after 12 years of Reagan/Bush I. We don't need an error(sic) of Bush II/McCain

Women who want control over their reproductive rights aren't either; nor are the people being tortured and held without due process in CIA secret prisons; nor are union members who are losing their right to collective bargaining; nor are all the people who depend on government regulations for clean air and water and a safe food supply. But, hey; at least you get to keep your self-respect...
How nice that you are so willing to throw the health, safety and civil liberties of your fellow citizens under the bus just so you can feel righteous.

We need to remember what conservative ideology has gotten us.
Wars, budget deficits, poverty, joblessness, hatred, enmity in the world, Divisiveness, and some would even say terrorism.
nothing, and i mean nothing, is worth letting this happen for another 4 years. Both of these candidates have said that peace and prosperity can exist and i , for one , think that both of them can make it come true.
Everyone has flaws and everyone makes mistakes. If one candidate or another has done something dumb thats pissed us off, lets try to remember that , to them, this is so important that they are actually doing something about, not just sitting around in our living rooms bitching through our computers. So mistakes made with peace on the line are, to me, acceptable.
We dont all have to love them both but we should all have a deep respect for both of these people.

Having another Republican in office will cause much suffering for a lot of people. It's your duty to vote for the Democratic candidate. Try to set aside the hyperbole about Obama. He's no worse and may even be a little better than most politicians. I know some of his "followers" can be pretty annoying, but it's not them you'd be voting for.

I'm curious, though- what, precisely, do you find "arrogant and dangerous" about Obama?
You are aware, of course, of the fact that on concrete policy proposals, Sens. Obama's and Clinton's positions are much more alike than they are different?

Jeez, talking about projecting. I've seen some rude and dismissive stuff form the OP.
I don't think the OP can handle this situation, and is taking his/her anger out on the Dem party.

Just as I have said to Obama supporters who said they could NEVER vote for Clinton . . . I will tell you Clinton supporters the same . . . if you are an independent, vote for whoever your heart tells you to vote for. More power to you. That is your right.
But, if you are a DEMOCRAT, in 2008 MORE THAN EVER, even if you have to HOLD YOUR NOSE while doing it, you have an OBLIGATION to your party to vote for the party's nominee. There is TOO MUCH AT STAKE to allow McCain to force America to suffer through a THIRD TERM for the Bush administration - and that is exactly what a McCAIN presidency would be.

...we're still all better off getting behind whoever the eventual nominee is. Either are much better for the country than McCain, and you lose the anti-McCain effect of your vote if you don't vote at all, or if you vote for an obscure candidate or a write-in.

but i would submit that a certain level of arrogance is prerequisite for a serious political career. "dangerous" is a nebulous term and seems unwarranted based on anything i know about the man.
as for punishing a candidate because of his supporters, that's childish, in my view.
work hard for your candidate and perhaps you won't have to write her in.

205. Remember two can play that game, and whoever gets the nomination |
|
if they do not get the other's support THEY LOSE
So please, continue to propagate that around, try to piss as many people off as you can, so they will feel the same way you do, and then if it travels fast enough by word of mouth or email, if Hillary gets the nomination, you will have contributed to mccain being the next president because of your attitude, if it isn't my Democratic candidate, then I won't support that candidate
It is Democrats or progressive that voted for nader, or those that didn't vote for the Democratic candidate which is why we are where we are today, AND WE WILL DESERVE EXACTLY WHAT WE GET

208. I feel the exact same way about Clinton. |
|
In fact, all I had to do was change a few words in your paragraph:
I will not vote for Hillary Clinton in the GE.
The reason is she is arrogant and dangerous. She represents everything that is wrong with politicians. A lot of her supporters are incredibly rude and dismissive. I will not support this movement. I will write in Obama in the general election if he doesn't win the nomination so I am voting for him regardless.
*nods*
Yup. No more crooks in the White House. I've had enough Bushes and Clintons to last a lifetime.
