A lot of this is just silly. |
|
I'm writing this as a nod to my fellow DUers reading on GD-P, the vast majority of whom aren't calling anyone names or tearing their own heads off at the thought of the "wrong" candidate being nominated.
Let's pull up our chairs and remind ourselves that we have two good candidates for president - a woman and an African American - and that things are generally looking up in this country. Yes, we have serious problems, many caused by the moran squatting in the White House and the authoritarian-corporatist Republicans who seized control in recent decades. The proof of their idiotic selfish short-signed vision is all around us - disaster.
The Republicans have brought disaster on this country. A lot of people are starting to notice. Now it's time for Democrats to take over and start cleaning up the messes. I will gladly and proudly support either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in the general election. I'm not so invested in either one of them that I would even consider taking part in smears of any Democrat.
And I know that 90% of my fellow DUers feel exactly the same way.

2. I'm with you.... but I don't think we're in a 90% majority.... |

what I see is mostly trash-and-burn the other side.

I am a pragmatist and I will vote strategically. That means I will support the candidate I think is most likely to defeat McCain. And no matter who the nominee is, if he/she has a D after his/her name, that's who I'm voting for. Right now I have a preference but I'm not fanatical about it and I will (and have been) defend both candidates from smears and slanders from the opponent's flying monkey contingents. I will not participate in the trashing of any Democrat.

5. We need to be focusing on |

What we can do to defeat the GOP, McCain in particular. What I'd like to see is at least as many posts on information about his weaknesses, strategies to win in swing states, and ways to convince undecideds that the Democrats are the way to go as we see bashing Clinton or Obama. This is where our priorities should be.
