But, for some reason, some Dems don't care if BushInc stays protected for another decade. http://consortiumnews.com/2006/111106.htmlInteresting thread here - but you never see Clinton supporters on serious corruption threads for some reason. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=2836046&mesg_id=2836046

41. Clinton didn't HAVE to investigate - all he had to do was COOPERATE with the investigations |
|
that had been going on and FACILITATE access to documents that had been stonewalled by previous administrations.
Man, what is so HARD about this for you all to grasp?
Are you PROUD Clinton's taking in millions of dollars from the very same people who were protected when BCCI report was deep-sixed?
You want MORE of that when Bush2 leaves office? What the hell has happened to a citizenry who no longer WANTS open government or accountability?
You want MORE 9-11s? More Iraq wars? More dominant fascism?

Billary fills me with contempt. If she only had a sincere bone in her body. Really, I wish I knew what drew people to her, because I don't see it. Of all the Dem candidates, she remains the WORST.

such a "hope" filled piece of doodoo to drop in a positive thread.
I'll be nicer.
Obama doesn't fill me with contempt, nor do I find him insincere.
He just doesn't inspire me as much as Hillary Rodham Clinton.

the point I have been trying to make here for weeks. The candidates we chose should fill us with hope.
Otherwise why would we vote for them? We vote so that we can change the status quo. We vote because we hope we can make a difference with that vote.
That why all the criticism of Obama's message is way past silly. We all want the same thing - for our country and our lives to be better.
We may disagree on who will be best to take us there, but hope is part of the message of every candidate running for president.

35. Politicians should give hope to their supporters! I am glad you understand it. |
|
The key for us all is to then push them to fulfill their promises, and make the political landscape as friendly to that as possible.
I never saw you dissing Obama supporters over the "cult" thing, and appreciate that. Your support is reasoned and respectful - and as I said when you "came out" for Hillary, as long as you are doing that, no one should dismiss it, whether they agree or not.
Looking forward to working with in the general, no matter who wins. :hi:

38. Hey, we are all human, and it's easy to get caught up in it. |

Maybe since I was hoping for Gore, then leaning Edwards - mixed with my analytical nature over my advocacy, it keeps me from getting too worked up in the "my candidate good/your candidate evil, oh and PS you ae a jerk" mode of thinking.
Similarly, my anger at vote stealing, constitution shredding repubs is not heat and smoke, but cold, and hard as steel.
The important thing is to not let it escalate to the point where DUers are damaged afterwards. This weakens us, and the greatest tragedy would be to lose another really close election, or miss out on a filibuster proof Congress. We need to move as much of a democratic agenda so that people can see real progress before the 2010 elections.
We are on the cusp of great change, and we are lucky to be a part of it.

As a c-span junkie with a penchant for tech and environmental concerns - and knowing that at some time in the early 21st century the oil curve would dip, causing, well you know, what we have today (PNAC) - I was a big Gore supporter. He was in the senate talking up the possibilities of "Information Superhighway" through the 80's, then "Earth in the Balance" - all this showed such long term vision - one of the main things our politicians, media and most citizens really lack.
I was mixed about Bill, but recognized we needed a win, and we needed someone who could connect with people. I liked the blue collar background, but when I saw Hillary speak, from early on, I thought "she is the brains in that partnership" ...when the "cookie" comment passed her lips, I cheered loudly...that is not to take away from bill, but his need to be liked is a weakness. Enough psychobabble and nostalgia from me, though.
Seems I have an inability to type a short post.;)
