My thoughts on Louisana.....I grew up there.
A look at the exit polling showed Obama not doing as well among white voters as usual. I suspect that it is more a result of the large Catholic population instead of the fact that they are white. I have noticed that Obama performs poorly among catholics in every state. In Louisiana catholics make up a LARGE proportion of the populous. The exit polling at cnn seems to support my theory. It isn't as much about race as it is about religion.

A side note: I like catholics....I am in NO way posting anything negative about catholics. This place is PC central lately.

1. Obama won 85% of blacks, Hillary won 77% of whites

It is sad both campaigns made race a factor (one far more than the other...) and now we are seeing it in every southern state. Notice who keeps winning the states with the racial divides? Cui bono...

The same pattern is evident in southern states with small Catholic populations. How do you explain South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama?

7. Illinois doesn't really count...
that is his home turf they are biased for him there. Just like Hillary in NY did much better in her groups where she was supposed to be weak.

4. my mother was from LA & also Catholic
and she would have likely voted for Obama I bet because she thought that Clinton should have resigned when he got caught with Monica.

10. Really? My Baptist grandma
thought it was no one's business but the Clinton's. I guess Baptists are different from Catholics.

5. Never been to Louisiana
So I'll take your word for how it is. As long as you don't try and tell me how things are supposed to be in Iowa.

6. I live in Louisiana...Whites here, even Dems, have troubling voting
for blacks. Remember when Cleo Fields was in the run-off for Governor against Repuke Mike Foster. He lost big among white dems.

8. Half my family in Louisiana is Catholic, the other half Baptist
*Never* heard anyone say they would or would not vote for someone because of their religion. We talk issues and actions/inactions/misdeeds of our candidates.

(Full disclosure: I don't see race. People tell me I'm Black. I'm cool with that. - props to Steven Colbert)

saying. Obama is a Christian. Catholics don't have a problem with Christians. Most Catholics I know don't have a problem with Moslems, if that is what you're getting at. A parent who was Moslem doesn't matter to me whether he was raside that way or not. But, I believe people who gave his history. I don't know a lot of Catholics in the country anymore and I don't know any in LA, but it shouldn't be a factor - because he is Christian. So, can you say more. I assume you're not baiting us. Now, I'll read the other messages..

11. I disagree.
In Louisiana Catholics are a large part of the black and white citizens.

The voting pattern has nothing to do with religion.
