Anyone else feel like one of the luckiest dems in history? |
|
I have a very clear preference in this race, and I have some specific concerns abut the other candidate. However, I'm thrilled about and proud of both candidates. Their policies are nearly identical. Both have proven a long, strong commitment to change and empowerment.
I'm looking for others who: - Will stand by democratic values and do what must be done to ensure that the nominee, whoever it is, is elected in November - Are committed to unity. A man can speak passionately and eloquently of unity, but it's up to us to unite. - Want to start building eachother and both candidates up - to spend hours digging for their subversive accomplishments as liberal advocates, rather than their foibles and follies, and to begin quoting their incredible and empassioned speeches instead of their respective jabs or gaffes.
Clearly we have many threads available to debate and diminish. Anyone else interested in celebrating and sharing in our amazingly good fortune?

This is the very first primary I've voted in, not to mention followed avidly, and I've been voting for 56 years.

3. I feel scared right now. Re; super delegates and brokered conventions |
|
History shows that if we wait till the Convention to decide on our nominee we will lose the general after having only 8 weeks to mount a campaign against the Republican.
I also fear a loss of a large number of voters (mostly young and ideologues) should the nominee be picked by super delgates.
I am very scared of what a McCain presidency might look like for our country.
This is not an argument being made by me to change anyone's vote, just a concern I have.

It's not often that we have more than one good candidate to vote for. This year, we had seven (Dodd, Richardson, Biden, Obama, Clinton, Kucinich, Edwards). What did the Repukes have? Romney, Grandpa Fred, 9ui1ian1, Huckster, McCain, and Paul? Yeah, right...

5. Yes, we are fortunate. But it's not the result of "luck." |

It's because since 2000, we've been laying down building blocks of our own. It's because WE pulled together, made our voices heard, and kept our noses to the grindstone despite the obstacles and setbacks. I'm talking about things like Steve Colbert's speech, Jon Stewart showing everyone how fake the real news is, the efforts of DUers like Andy Stephenson, and Paul Hackett's nearly beating Jean Schmidt in a 70% GOP district. It's because the media muscle the Internet has given us has got the corporate media running so scared they've let Rachel Maddow in.
And though we're fighting over who the Dem candidate will be, at least they're WORTH fighting over. The poor GOP voters can't figure out whether McCain or Huckabee is the best of the worst, and their leadership hates them for not lockstepping along with Romney.
I voted for Obama proudly because I felt he's best candidate possible. And because I did that, I will vote for Hillary just as proudly in November if I feel the SHE is the best candidate possible.
