Great news in LA: Dem vote overwhelming GOP vote 182,000-72,000 so far |
|
Look at it! (granted not all votes counted yet), but, Obama and Clinton have gotten 182,000 total votes thus far to the GOP 72,000. Even in coming in second to Obama in LA, Clinton is so far running about 50,000 votes ahead of the presumptive GOP nominee, McCain, by almost 50,000 votes and Obama is running some 75,000 up against St. John.
Another great night for DEMOCRATS.

I absolutely believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that either of our candidates will grind John McCain into a fine, dry, smelly powder.

so glad to hear someone say that.
speaking of LA, in my hometown GNO-area parish, which i've always believed to be republican since everyone i knew was republican (although we carried gore and kerry in this red state), 4500 democrats to 1900 republicans voted. :wow:
i'm gettng a lil more optimistic. i've been skeptical, negative, cynical, pessimistic, but i guess i'm coming around.
go dems! :woohoo:

8. It's a hard habit to break! We were so *sure* a couple of times |
|
but I think this one is it, in a landslide.
Clinton OR Obama.
The "real world" energy is palpable.

3. Then why didn't they get out to vote in 2000 or 2004? |
|
2000 Bush 927,871 (53) Gore 792,344 (45) 2004 Bush 1,101,871 (57) Kerry 819,150 (42)
How are Louisiana's primary turnout today that much better than in 2000? Democratic - 157,551 Republican - 102,912
or in 2004? Democratic - 161,653 Republican - None

7. How do you deal with reality if you don't know what they are? |
|
We just had an high focus mayoral election last year. The established candidate in the primary lost to an upstart. Those supporters did not translate into a win for that candidate even though their primary had a higher turnout than normal.

5. On election day, I remember reports out of NOLA that they had |
|
power outages all over the city. Massive vote suppression.
I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention in 2000 but I bet I know what we'd find if we waded through the news.
