Poll question: Obama's Wins Suprising To Anyone? LA: 57%; NE: 68%; WA: 68%
Curious to see how many of you were surprised by Obama's win's today. I knew he'd take Nebraska, but I really DID think it would be a lot closer, even with his big rally on Thursday. I didn't know how he would fare in Washington or Louisianna - but it seems he did well in both states.

So, were you surprised? Does this help him out more then expected going into the other states.. or does this really not matter much?

6. Yup.. honestly, I was shocked.
After our caucus this morning I saw that Obama would probably win pretty easily in Nebraska.. but 68% even shocked me. We were thinking 55%.. maybe 60%.

I had no idea how he'd do in the other two states... GOBAMA!

41. So doesn't that say something about the candidates?
If one candidate is able to bring out more "fervent supporters" who are willing to take the time to caucus, doesn't that suggest greater enthusiasm on the part of his supporters?

7. I knew damn well he was going to win big in Washington State
Figured he would win Nebraska, with Nelson's endorsement. Louisiana was a bit more surprising, given the stranglehold the DLC seems to have on the party down there.

Actually.. one precint in Omaha (heavy black) was the only precinct to make Hillary not viable. 1400 caucusers - and only 26 for Hillary. That group must have been pretty depressed.

42. Agreed, especially Washington State
I thought maybe the lopsided margins for Obama in Super Tuesday caucus states might have been because Clinton did not campaign in them. But they both campaigned in Washington, and Obama still won 2-1. That was surprising.

21. That's the real story - the large margins.
I expected Obama to win, the question was by how much. It was a blow out in every single state. That should be a sign. If I were the Super Delegates of a state that blew out for Obama like that, I'd be hitching my wagon to him ASAP.

30. Questions from a newbie
Hope this is the right place to post this.
Before anybody gets all wild eyed about what I am going to ask. A little about myself. I'm an Independent, pure and simple. So that may disqualify me right there from posting on this site. Always loved how the Big Dog acted during the 90's. Until I had a Daughter and realized that maybe my thinking about women was wrong. Since I treated women the way Bill did/does. Truly was shocked when NOW gave Bill a pass on Monicagate. I mean, after telling me all those years that it is wrong when a man in power uses that to influence young women. Born in the South raised a racist, had an epiphany,Black man stood up for me when no one else would, and realized that real men come in all colors. I believe that Obama is the truest and best way to change this country. I'm part of America that thinks, Democrat or Republican, they are two sides of the same coin. I have lurked here for years and I also learned that some Liberals think like me. So here goes.

Do all those who support the Clinton's, really believe that Bill will just sit back and stay in the background?

Do you think that it was OK for Bill to take advantage of young women the way he did When he was President? If so why? Please don't use "its personal business" argument. Also don't use that Bush.....fill in the blank. The reason I asked that question is,in my experience, if your spouse can't trust ya, I can't either.

If Obama wins the most votes in the primary, but not enough to win the nomination and the super delegates give it to Hill/Bill. Will you be as outraged as people were about the selection of Bush? I was very surprised when Donna Brazil(sp?)said she would quit the Democratic party if that happens. And final question.

In the last election did anybody here notice that the two candidates were both megarich white men, who went to the same elite college, were both members of the same secret organization, and during all the debates( that I saw)wore red ties and blue suits? Thats just something to think about when you say you are given a choice. Cause if Obama isn't enough to shake our political landscape to its foundation, nothing is. Sorry in advance if I did not follow protocal or I hurt some of the more sensitive feelings here. Thank you for your time.

34. welcome to DU, Lex Talionis
and thank you for this post. You're absolutely right about the last election being between two very similar mega rich white men. That is one of the reasons that I support Barack. He is new and fresh and able to attract many besides Democrats. I am tired of the Bush/Clinton/Bush dynasties. This country really needs a change.

27. You are so clever, not.
You were basing your expectations of a bigger win on what?

The turn out was low and the black vote was somewhat depressed due
to the deplorable conditions left by Katrina.

I am just happy that the people who voted still had enough faith in our system
to show up.

I think pretty much everybody knows Hillary by now, and they know how they feel about her.

With her high negatives among the general population, that's one of the big problems I foresee if she gets the nomination.
