This Kucinich and Edwards supporter is now a proud delegate...
...to our County Convention and/or Legislative District for Barack Obama!

Though I have been a voter for 27 years, this was my first caucus, and it was AMAZING. The passion and excitement in the room, from both the Hillary and Barack camps, was palpable. People spoke with conviction and with graciousness, and we all recognized that, while only one can carry the standard for us all in Denver, we will need to join hands -- every one of us -- as a unified front to win in November.

7. What was so profoundly invigorating was hearing one of the precinct caucus chairs note that...
...in our room only, we had as twice as many people representing two precincts than there were in the same room eight years ago, representing six precincts.

And, my wife is a delegate now, too...and we took our 24-year-old daughter. It was a maiden voyage for all of us.

18. I tried to get my family in Seattle to go today, but I'm not sure that they
did.

When I move back to Seattle, I will participate in the future, too. I was so proud of all my fellow Washingtonians today! And that includes you, your wife, and your daughter! Thank you!!

9. I've been a delegate ...
in every Presidential election since 1984 ... I have *never* seen a voter turn out like I did last Tuesday. There were a lot of young people there, too. So this year, I decided not to raise my hand when we were asked who wanted to represent our precinct and let one of those young caucusers (is that a word?) know the excitement of being a delegate.

I did, however, put forth the following resolution:

Resolution to Impeach George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney.

WHEREAS, elected officials take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic;

WHEREAS, Evidence in the public domain alone has led us to reasonably suspect that George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney conspired with others to defraud the United States of America by intentionally misleading Congress and the public regarding the threat from Iraq in order to justify a war in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 371; and

WHEREAS, Recent proclamations and actions have led us to reasonably suspect that George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney are currently conspiring with others to defraud the United States of America again by intentionally misleading Congress and the public regarding the threat from Iran in order to justify another war in violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 371; and

WHEREAS, George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney conspired with others to commit the torture of prisoners in violation of the "Federal Torture Act" Title 18 United States Code, Section 113C, the UN Torture Convention and the Geneva Convention, which under Article VI of the Constitution are part of the "supreme Law of the Land"; and

WHEREAS, George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney acted to strip American citizens of their constitutional rights by ordering indefinite detention without access to legal counsel, without charge and without the opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the discretionary designation by the President of a U.S. citizen as an "enemy combatant", all in subversion of law; and

WHEREAS, In all of this George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney have acted in a manner contrary to their trust as President and Vice President, subversive of constitutional government to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of Minneapolis, Minnesota and of the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, Petitions from the country at large may be presented by the Speaker of the House according to Clause 3 of House Rule XII;

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by The Democratic Party of the State of Minnesota:

That George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney, by such conduct, warrant impeachment and trial, and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States; and

Be it resolved further by the Democratic Party of the State of Minnesota , That our senators and representatives in the United States Congress be, and they are hereby, requested to cause to be instituted in the Congress of the United States proper proceedings for the investigation of the activities of George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney, to the end that they may be impeached and removed from such office; and

Be it further resolved That the Clerk of the Democratic Party of the State of Minnesota be, and is hereby, instructed to certify to each elected party representative, under the seal of the Democratic Party of the State of Minnesota, a copy of this resolution and its adoption by the Democratic Party of the State of Minnesota, as a petition. A copy of this resolution shall also be sent to Representative John Conyers, Chair of the House Judiciary Committee. The copies shall be marked with the word "Petition" at the top of the document and contain the original authorizing signature of the authorized signatory of the Democratic Party of the State of Minnesota;

15. There was already a resolution prepared calling for impeachment at my caucus,
It was read aloud and received with applause. we're a small town near the ocean.

I'm a delegate for Obama, but I'm not as swept up as some others are. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not counting on it.

Congrats, Barrymores Ghost! Have a great time, I intend to as well. :bounce:

10. I was an Edwards supporter too
and I'm very proud to report that I am an Obama delegate now too. My caucus in WA was an extremely uplifting event for me as well. Obama swept my precinct. I thought I would have a fight on my hands to convince my neighbors but they were right there with me.

19. Thank you for your Unifying thoughts...
I too am an Edwardian (voted for him in CA last week)...and not sold on Obama at all...
but I think that the idea of getting involved on the level you are is awesome!
and your words about unifying in November couldn't ring truer, that is where I stand as well!

Let us know how the experience unfolds!
