Most of my reasons for supporting Obama. Written by somebody else. |
|
I just read this article on Znet by Ted Glick which really resonated with me because his reasons for supporting Obama are a lot like mine. Just thought I'd share. http://www.zcommunications.org/zspace/commentaries/3358Oh, please just ignore his talk about a third party. It's not the point of the article.

2. This killed the writer's credibility for me: |

"As someone who fasted for 107 days last fall trying to push the federal government to take action on the climate crisis..."
About as productive and sensible as setting oneself on fire in the middle of Times Square.

3. Nah, you can only set yourself on fire once. |
|
fasting is something you can do on a regular basis, though 107 days is a bit much.

...if he meant 107 days in a row, or 107 days over like, five years.

5. Yeah, I kinda wondered that, too. |

And was it a complete fast(don't think that would be possible for that long), a juice fast, or what?
But anyway, I liked what he said about Clinton and Obama.
Especially this part:
"Could Obama be a Lincolnesque or FDR-type figure?
I can see it. I cannot, absolutely cannot see it for Hillary Clinton.
But it won't happen with Obama unless the progressive movement continues building up its independent, issue-oriented, outside-the-corporate-parties strength."
I, too, see the desperate need for someone like FDR or Lincoln. I have my doubts about Obama being willing to become what we need. But with Hillary I have no doubt that she won't. I know she COULD if she chose to, she's highly capable and intelligent; but it's so far from what I see as her deeply rooted ideology, that I'm almost certain she won't.
