The "Candidates" And Nuclear Proliferation/Nuclear Energy
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 08:16 AM by RestoreGore
Firstly, how many of them support AIPAC and are members of the CFR? What are they going to do about nuclear proliferation in this world? And that does not mean just in the Middle East. What are they going to do about ridding this world of nuclear weapons, INCLUDING the United States? Will they continue the missile defense shield program? Will they call for an end to nuclear energy and a moratorium on building nuclear plants in this country, since lobbyists now think they can get away with building their carbon sucking monstrosities by calling it "clean techonlogy" like Obama does as he takes Exelon's money?

And what of the Israeli/Palestinian war? It is now escalating again. What do they intend to do to broker peace in this region? When will Palestinians be allowed to live peacefully on their land with the water, food, and electricity they need to survive without being shot at and bombed constantly? When will Israelis be able to walk the streets without worrying about bombs hitting them? When will this government stand up to the policies of the Israeli government that uses our tax dollars to kill innocent people? Will they also approach Israel about their nukes as well as any other country looking to proliferate weapons equitably? And that doesn't mean only sitting around a table singing Kumbaya either.

If we don't get down to the nitty gritty of foreign policy before January 20, 2009, I fear we will not seee much "change" from the way things are done now. So, anyone who knows, can you give us "specific" information about where they stand regarding working to rid this world of nukes and nuclear power and proof to back up that they are not lying about what they propose just to get votes? And I personally can't see how you can say you are against war yet for nuclear anything. I also don't want to hear "yes we can", I want to see some real action in dealing with real problems and saying "yes I will."

The nuclear issue is also tied to economics, the environment, health, social justice and human rights. So if they both intend to continue to have this county possessing nukes and allowing others to have them also including Pakistan just because they are our "allies", then they are hypocrites when they call for change. Also, Obama keeps talking about "other threats" in debates but is never specific about what they are, and constantly refers to Pakistan as a threat. Just what then is he really planning to do regarding them? Would any of them launch a nuclear weapon? Will we see a draft since our military is stretched so thin? Saying you will pull troops out of Iraq also does not convince me that you are anti-war, especially when you don't have a track record to prove it. See, these are the questions I want answered. I don't want glossy speeches and people braggging that he or whoever got 21,000 people to show up at a rock concert. That means nothing in the end. I want to know that once someone else takes the reigns of this country I won't still have to worry that they are going to push that button and make their own excuses for why they "had" to do it.

Now watch this thread which actually ASKS IMPORTANT QUESTIONS drop faster than a lead balloon.

But then, why even attempt to discuss real issues here when talking about fluff and insulting everyone is more exciting? Don't then wonder why people are turned off to this process.
