How about NO MORE anti-Clinton supporters and anti-Obama supporters threads?
The Republicans are already beginning to seriously unite to win. This shouldn't be underestimated.

1. I tried to say this in my thread and it went No-Where.
I hope you have better luck than I did because I think this is important.

4. EVERYBODY needs to chill, or McCain's gonna get elected.
I've seen as many hotheaded Clinton supporters as Obama supporters. It's totally unproductive.

9. Can you clarify, please?
Do you mean anti-Clinton Obama supporters and anti-Obama Clinton supporters? That's what it seems like, but the Gods know you can't take ANYTHING for granted around here, lately.

If so, the thing you have to remember about Republicans is that all sheep look alike, think alike and vote alike, anyway. If a Democratic candidate is attempting to woo moderate Republicans, it's just simply going to backfire, period.

McCain is more than likely going to win the primaries but he is going to have to have a conservative running mate, in order to just have a chance in the GE...

Barring something disastrous (like John Edwards for VP, for example) happening, it should STILL be a cakewalk for either Clinton or Obama.

10. I mean threads that bash other human beings, period, but especially here
the completely unproductive nasty posts about the people who are supporting either Clinton or Obama. Enough already. It isn't going to sway anybody's vote. Respectfully disagree with the people's choice but knock off the attacks.

When I read this stuff it says more to me about the posters than about the people being bashed, whoever their candidate may be.

If people want to get into disagreements within the thread discussion, that's one thing; but to have posts entirely dedicated to ridiculing or bashing the other side is really off the wall and if I were in charge of DU I'd put that in the rules. It's harmful to the whole, it's harmful to everybody.

I don't agree that it can be taken for granted that Democrats will have a cakewalk. To paraphrase our mighty leader, this is a misunderestimation of the opposition's resources and an overmisunderestimation of the stupidity of the American people.

Had a discussion last night with a young Obama supporter who was amazed to have discovered there are real people who believe Obama is a Muslim extremist. For some people it only takes a single forwarded email to form an opinion like that.

I am not an Obama supporter but I'm also not a Clinton fan. I kind of wish the Clintons would step aside and pass the torch, get behind Obama. I'm sure alot of people here would like to kill me for saying that.

11. I know how you feel.
I've been guilty of posting a few nasty posts, myself, particularly while Edwards was in the running, but at least I strove to be FACTUAL, and tried to never parrot RW talking points.

I know how you feel regrding Obama and Clinton, too (and I don't want to kill ANYBODY)...but what I wonder is what would have happened if Al Gore had seriously ran for the nomination. I am sure that you would have seen a LOT less nasty posts and a heck of a lot more unity around here. I do not see this as necessarily a good thing, as those who skate through the primary process may get hammered by surprises the 'Pubs may have up their sleeves in the GE.

Obams and Clinton SHOULD have most of the skeletons out of the closet, just by the nature of this race, by the time a nominee is elected. The candidates we have this cycle seem (at least to me) head and shoulders above the Republicans and the mood of the country seems different, this time.

Just my opinion, however. I DO believe that whoever gets the nomination will be supported pretty fully at DU. There will always be the petty dissenters, but people here will pull together similarly to what we saw in 2004, with Kerry/Edwards.

Good luck to you (and your candidate).
