If a post limit is instituted here, I sure as hell won't waste any more posts reaching out
to Clinton supporters. They'd rather just snap your hands off.

I have been trying to reach out with posts such as this:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/berni_mccoy/219

and this:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/berni_mccoy/221

And when posting about Obam, I try to post threads like this:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/berni_mccoy/223

and this:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/berni_mccoy/224

I admit I have engaged in some of the petty b.s. and responded to attacks with anger. Even so, I have stated over and over again that I would support either candidate as the nominee.

But I was completely surprised, when trying to send out some empathy to the Clinton supporters today in this post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4517404

that I was told I was mocking and being hurtful and that no one believed my intent.

I think it's really sad it's come to this. But believe me, I won't waste any of my limited threads reaching out anymore.

2. My apologies, berni, for misinterpreting your thread this morning. I thought it was a gloat thread
It came off that way to me at the time. Anyway, I didn't snap your hands off, but I wish you would've responded to some of the posts much sooner in THAT thread to let us know that it wasn't a gloat thread.

Anyway, I'm sorry about misinterpreting what your intentions were.

8. No problem
and thanks for accepting my apology. That must have sucked to see so many people, including myself, misinterpret it like we did. I've had that happen to me, and it isn't pleasant when it's happening. Again, sorry about that. :)

3. You can't win with some people.
I did laugh a little when I opened your last link and noticed that about half the responses are already on ignore. That seems to be the best solution to the crap around here, IMO.

6. I have used ignore as well, but only for extreme spammers.
In this case, many of the people slapping down friendship and solidarity are long-timers who have been blinded by their support for their candidate. It's almost as if they belong to a cult or something.

9. I have done likewise.
There's a bunch of them that there's simply no point in reading or seeing. Repetitious, not original, and don't even represent the other side well. I dump them in the grease as soon as they look to have nothing new to add, and there will always be some who remain and say all that their side could possibly say.

I consider this mainly a gab fest, not unlike where opposing sides square off in demonstrations and yell shit at each other. We're there for ourselves and our sides. We don't expect to change anyone's mind. We're simply giving voice to ours.

4. Berni_
As a less than enthusiastic Democrat right now, who doesn't particularly care for either of the candidates, I appreciated your threads. I don't have anything at all against reasoned Obama (or Clinton) supporters who lay their case out in a calm, non-inflammatory way. From what I read, you're that kind of supporter, so carry on. You're doing good work.

7. Believe me, you are not alone.
It's pretty bad on both sides.

10. You can't reach the ones on here.
Your time would be better spend trying to reach people in the real world. Although, I did get one to admit her IWR vote was a mistake.
