1. Obama +67 in delegates that matter
Throw in the SD count and Hil is still winning. Whoever wins the pledged delegate count should be the nom. SD's should just back the will of the people.

5. Agreed. The SD's were supposedly added as a "saftey valve"...
...in case we the people went and did something "looney*" again, like nominating George McGovern.

Now, as wrongheaded as that is on so many levels, if they go and subvert the will of the people this time around when there isn't a "threat*" like McGovern, the true motives for this steaming pile of crap will be obvious.

*I'm being sarcastic about the "lunacy" of the McGovern "threat", in case it's not apparent.

NGU.

7. There are 1582 delegates left
Assuming FL and MI remain uncounted:

For Obama to win without superdelegates he would have to win 68% of the outstanding pledged delegates

For Clinton to win without superdelegates she would have to win 72% of the outstanding pledged delegates

9. Democrats' delegate dilemma
Neither Hillary Rodham Clinton nor Barack Obama is going to win the Democratic presidential nomination based on the primaries alone.

At this point, it's just about mathematically impossible. That's the central reality of the race now that Super Tuesday has come and gone.

The contests yet to come - including Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia on Tuesday; Texas and Ohio on March 4; and Pennsylvania on April 22 - remain tremendously important.

But the object of the game has changed: Now the idea behind winning primaries is to gain momentum and thereby impress the 796 superdelegates, most of them party and elected officials.

Those are the individuals whose votes at the convention will carry one candidate to the magic number and the nomination.

But their influence, depending on how it's exerted, could leave millions of Democratic voters feeling cheated - and less enthusiastic about their party heading into November.
