What does Howard Dean do next ?? |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 04:49 PM by kentuck
He does not want this campaign to go into Denver as a brokered convention. What can he do? He can't declare one candidate a winner over the other and disregard the voters. Neither candidate will take the VP position in some kind of deal. Will he decide to let the Super Delegates determine the outcome? What can he do?

|

4. Here is what will happen |
|
He will talk to the supers and try to persuade them to get behind the pledged delegate leader. It may happen before March 4th or immediately after.
He is going to attempt to railroad one candidate out of the race. Obama is creating more excitement (not saying that Hillary doesn't have just as much support, but Obama's has more of an air of excitement around it), so I think Clinton might be the one pushed out.
If they get one to drop before the convention it solves all of their problems. They can seat Michigan and Florida (kiss and make up).

7. Ok...here is what I have been picking up on... |
|
Not so much what he can do....but here are the talking points that indicate to me that many think it is time to go back to the smoke-filled rooms.
Broder today was the most recent, but I have been picking up on this.
Broder said that Dean did not have the status to broker this situation.
Hmmm...a put down to make him seem unimportant?
Up against the campaign of the wife of a former president? Power play coming? Back to those back rooms?
FL is determined to fight. It is mostly Hillary people. I won't speak for MI.
If a bully wants to fight...who can stop them? With a former president playing unprecedented role....it could get ugly.
What can Dean do? Let the rules committee enforce the rules. Then I imagine he will gladly turn it over to the nominee, breath a sigh of relief, and go back to his life.
