Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 07:12 PM by Kerry2008
By Obama supporters.

Not a lot of attacks. But some.

With Al Gore not endorsing, John Edwards is the last major endorsement left.

And everyone, even me a month ago, thought Edwards endorsement would always go to Barack Obama.

But with reports he's impressed by Hillary's plan on poverty, the fact that Edwards has shown signs he respects how toughly Hillary Clinton's fought this campaign despite all the attacks, and the fact that her healthcare plan matches his--it seems like some Obama supporters want to attack John because he isn't coming out and backing their guy!

Give John Edwards his chance to make up his own mind.

The issues are important to John, and so is examining how Barack and Hillary would confront those issues.

He doesn't deserve to be attacked because he isn't jumping on the Obama bandwagon. Or the Hillary bandwagon.

....Yet.

ON EDIT: For example, one Obama supporter in another thread said John Edwards isn't really torn...he's just waiting to see which cow to milk. Pathetic!

12. Go to the thread about Edwards being impressed with Hillary's poverty plan.
In that thread alone, two Obama supporters claim he's just "playing a game" with the endorsement and that he's waiting to see which "cow to milk"

That's just in one thread alone.

There are various others that have been posted today on DU.

If I'm lying, you're more than welcome to look around and see for yourself.

It's the same thing with Kerry. Some of the Obama supporters attacked Kerry until he endorsed Barack.

Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 07:32 PM by karynnj
I did see certain HRC attacking him gratutitously even when he did nothing that would have triggered it. I also saw MANY Edwards people do so on many 2004 related threads. I think there were several that realized that Kerry was always uniformly positive and very clearly friendly when speaking of Obama.

They gave us a year of their lives, and they deserve a little break before they start the new chapter of their lives helping people who need a voice and a fighter/fighters like the Edwards have been. Anyone who questioned how authentic the Edwards were in this campaign will soon find out.

I doubt this is the last we've heard of John Edwards.

based upon what a particular candidates SUPPORTERS say? If he is the man I think he is he will look at both candidates and make a decision based upon the issues that are important to him and who he thinks will be the best president. If you think he is a candidate that would make a decision based upon a candidate's supporters then I clearly don't know anything about the man........

Obama has won 6 million votes. Few of them are cult members. However, a significant number of Obama activists do have traits of cult members and there is ample evidence of it on DU. Cults have one "truth" and anything that doesn't comport with it must be evil. Anyone who endorses someone other than St. Obama MUST be evil!

51. Uh, I might be one of those people you are talking about.
And i am a Clintobama or Obaclinton supporter. And I have posted some of my thoughts on what is going on with JE right now. I don't consider them attacks, and apologize if they come off that way. I just question some of the underlying assumptions about him. I think he is a politician in a prime political position right now and is weighing his options, as any good politician would do. Whatever he does, I hope that his supporters will respect his decision and understand that he made the best deal he could.

56. I voted for John Edwards in 2004 and went to his rally... now I am a Hillary fan...
both care about people and want them to have the things they need in life to survive.... health care, jobs, homes, a decent wage....

Obama just wants their money so he can run his ads and send booklets to every household... even if he is taking from the poor!

I wish Elizabeth were healthy and she could run for president! She is awesome!!

66. Neither do I...
...and Senators Edwards, Clinton and Obama are all Dems (as have I been since stuffing envelopes for McGovern in the 1972 GE).

74. Please understand, if Senator Clinton gets the nod, I'll campaign as ferverently....
...for her as I would for Senator Obama. I've been very vocal about my disdain for ANYONE who might bash Senator Obama, and I've been vocal about my disdain for anyone who bashes Senator Clinton (do a search -).

I apologize for the tone of my posts to you. I reckon both you and I will both be pulling the "D" levers next November. There's been too many negative posts about BOTH candidates - none of them will ultimately help us next November.

When anyone posts a charge (about ANY of our candidates) without proof, I feel compelled to challenge them. I hope you understand why.:hi:

Sorry our exchange got heated :)

Good Democrats make a few missteps now and again!

72. Hillary has a plan about poverty - Wonder why nobody posted it here.

For the rest, IMHO, Edwards is free to endorse whoever he wants, or nobody. Contrarely to what many Edwards and Clinton supporters have done when Kerry and Kennedy endorsed Obama, I will not blame him for that.

BTW, just as any other candidates including Edwards, Obama has some supporters that are stupid. Nothing new and nothing to be surprised by. However, double standards should not apply.

79. To me, it would just say that his whole "from the gut"
thing about lobbyists was a sham and that politics does indeed trump all.

He made a stated point in the NH debate that with him, it was "personal, not political (Hillary) and not academic (Obama)" and went on to say that IF it is personal, you don't throw it away for political gain.

He portrayed her to his supporters as the polar opposite of him. His endorsement (should he make one) of her would completely discredit him -- something he can ill afford if he wants to make politics his career as that was the main thing people had against him.

84. maybe John is waiting to be VP?
maybe he won't endorse until he gets a clearer picture of the race. It wouldn't look good if he endorses the loser if you see what I mean?
