GOP Obama talking points to address ASAP
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 08:24 PM by LuckyTheDog
Talking point #1) Obama has no plan beyond "inspiration"

Suggestion: Assuming he gets the nomination, Obama needs to pull together all of his best proposals into a single document in book form -- "The Obama Plan" -- and his commercials should make reference to the plan often. There should be lines that say "under the Obama plan..." paired with a quick visual of th actual book.

Talking point #2) Obama's supporters are a creepy cult who worship him like a messiah and don't even know what he stands for.

Suggestion: Again, assuming he gets the nomination, Obama should get real people to talk about the real reasons why they support Obama... film them and put them in ads and on YouTube. He'll also want to get level-headed, respected Democrats to praise his policy ideas at every turn.

"The term arose from the notion that a Southerner would vote for a yellow dog before voting for a Republican."

3. He already has a plan in book form.
It's a 64 page pdf on hs web site called the blue book, you can find it easily with Google. Certainly, they should promote it in the commercials but the sad fact is that 9 out of 10 voters (especially the ones who are most influenced by TV) don't actually want to read a book about policy.

5. They don't have to read it
They just need to know that it's there... to counter the "Obama has no plan" spin that's out there.

11. He could mention the details of his policy plans in his rallies, like
Hillary does, assuming that he has any details.

She talks policy all the time. He talks fluff and the horserace.

7. Blueprint For Change
#1 is done. http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForChange.pdf

He does have "level-headed" Democrats supporting his policy ideas, campaigning all over the place.

If you want to be one of the "real people", you could start an LTTE campaign and get people to start writing letters and posting on local message boards.

I think people know that a President is going to have a Cabinet and will have to work with Congress on the details of any plan. Obama gives the basics of what he stands for, health care, education, political reform. That's what people are voting for. Someone who will get this stuff done and stop bickering about it or giving us half-measures.
