obama is the republican dream formula for a candidate -- except he's on OUR side!

ever since reagan, the republican dream formula for a president has been a great communicator who may not have personally had all the goods, but could damn well deliver the message. the goods would be provided by a quiet team behind the man.

reagan and shrub certainly had the empty suit qualification. reagan did deliver an effective message. well, illusion, really. shrub sort of tried, but proved utterly incompetent even at that limited presidential task. poppy actually had the goods and wasn't so great at the illusion part, which is really why the republicans never really liked him.

i'm not saying obama is an empty suit, although ironically that's the charge that's emerging against him from republicans. "inexperienced" really means empty suit. i find this highly amusing because republicans LOVE an empty suit when it's THEIR candidate. they DREAM of an empty suit. democrats want their candidate to be a superman and republicans want their candidate to be an empty suit so the republican TEAM can do the real damage behind the figurehead.

i think obama does have the goods, he's just smart enough not to commit himself early. however, should he become president and turn out to be just a great messenger, that would be delicious irony, to finally have our own president cast in the republican model.
