The MSM is doing it too. Not saying it isn't funny but it will backfire at some point with older voters. Older voters vote.

I heard prostate jokes on MSNBC and "old" jokes on CNN about McCain. It isn't going to go on too long without a reaction.

Be careful out there.

Chimpy's Third Term.
He is only where he is because a few talking heads said the *surge* worked.

It didn't. Things are getting very bad in Iraq, again. As more flag-drapped coffins come home, McFear's chances disappear.

Again, Fuck Him. Chimpy's Third Term.

He is running for Chimpy's Third Term. Nobody's buying that shit. Even chimpy's 29 percenter's hate Mcfear.

Fuck Him.

24. I would be delusional to think NC will go Dem.
But, the Democratic Nominee doesn't need to win these Strong Red states.

I don't believe the voters of Strong Dem or Swing states will buy that tired more war shtick McFear is selling.

Go, Heels! My grandfather is a big fan.

Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 10:08 PM by NastyRiffraff
We don't need to attack age, or looks, or anything but the fact that he's running for Bush's third term.

7. I was young and anti-war when McGovern won the Dem
nomination.

The Vietnam war was very unpopular, while the incumbent, Tricky Dick, was not likeable at all.

Yet the middle-aged and older voters outvoted us young voters by a wide margin. McGovern carried two states!

It's natural for young people to want to rebel against people older than they are. But being disrespectful because of age isn't smart in an election if you really want to change things.

4. In this day and age
72 is no longer old. The population as a whole is getting older, so you may have a valid point.

27. Using someone's age to make generalizations or disregard their importance
is ageism. It goes both ways.

6. I understand what you're saying, but Dems aren't the main
ones doing it. No question Dems are joining in, but a lot of repubs and independents are making the point as well, and the media is doing it big-time. It is, frankly, a major and valid concern. That doesn't mean he should be made fun of, though, and older voters are, indeed, a major consideration.

The older members of my family, however, even the repub ones, aren't too thrilled with the matter of his age.

12. The last time somebody so old got elected President, he went senile and forgot half of what he did.
There's a reason that high pressure jobs (like pilots) where split-second decisions matter generally have low retirement ages. By the end of his first term he'd be 77. What are the chances (without even factoring in his cancer history, the stress of the job, or other individual factors) that a man will be healthy enough to do such a high pressure job at 77? Slim. Then you start adding in his having had cancer, etc and the odds look worse yet. Even if he were hale and hearty now, and in my unprofessional opinion he doesn't look so hot to begin with.

26. I know personal anecdotes don't count for much
but my grandma's 80 and she's OLD.

She can hardly move, she's addicted to painkillers, she's perennially pissy and depressed, she sleepwalks....

I cannot imagine having my grandma in the white house.

McCain is younger *now*, but at that age, people can decline really quickly. :(

20. No - older voters don't want an old president
They know firsthand what kind of problems senior citizens have. They'll think, "I'm 76 years old, and I don't think McCain will have enough energy, or his joints will be aching, or his memory will be fading, etc, etc."

25. His mom is still kicking. Hell, if they're gonna put a McCain in the Oval Office, they should give
the job to her--she makes more sense than the rest of them!
He'll pick a YOUNG + READY VP, and everyone will just shut up about his age.
