Susan Sarandan now supports Obama

She was just on the Tavis Smiley show and she talked about her support for Edwards.

When asked who she is supporting now, she said, "Obama."

6. bitter much?
:eyes:

For the record, I have not made fun of, insulted, or denigrated ONE SINGLE Hillary endorser/supporter. It's rather petty, don't you think?

7. I heard Robbins the day after Edwards dropped.
He spoke favorably of Obama, but would not endorse.

3. Sweet....
I :loveya: her!

She is a mature, smart, lovely, opinionated, talented and strong woman. I have been a big fan of hers for many years. Of course it doens't matter much that she decided to support Obama, but it is always nice when you find out someone you like and respect likes and respects someone else that you like and respect! LOL

8. When she was stumping with Edwards, there was NO media coverage.
I did see Robbins and Sarandon standing well behind Edwards for about ten seconds on CNN.

Yet, sHuckabee and his bearded actor pal filled my teevee screen for a full month.

13. Another celebrity endorsement, yawn.
I'm for Barack Obama and I really like Susan Sarandon, but this whole celebrity endorsement thing is out of control.

17. I'm close to making an exception for Sarandon and Robbins
because they've been involved in politics for a while. But other than that most celebrities opinions are probably less valid than most people who post on DU. Because they're famous I'm supposed to care about what they have to say?

21. That's why her opinion matters....
because she IS politically active.

Hollywood matters for a couple reasons... # they have money... that's the minor reason.

# 2 is that having a career in entertainment gives people a lot of downtime. The successful ones make a lot of money per project and then have a lot of time to find things with which to occupy themselves. The ones with strong values and a desire to do good often use that downtime (and the celebrity-pulpit) to get involved in the causes of their choice.

I do not take anything away from people BECAUSE they are celebs. True, they do not necessarily deserve MORE respect than ordinary people. However, if they use the freedom that comes with financial security and free time to do good things and be an activist for causes in whic they believe, then more power to 'em, and I don't think anyone should discount their work simply because they act (or direct or sing or whatever) for a living.

24. If they are actively involved in activism
then I welcome their input. This is where I'm willing to cut Sarandon, Robbins, Portman et al, more slack. I don't take anything away from your average celebrity who wants to endorse, but they certainly don't get more credit. We're all very informed and active on DU and no one is asking for Lisa0825 or Cant Trust Em's opinions.

Extra Extra! Can't Trust Em endorses Barack Obama!

She was laughing her head off on the Letterman show about the bungling old people LaPore fooled - I will never forget her. Nor Nader's "maybe they should flip a coin"
