WASHINGTON: Senator Barack Obama continued to be on song over the weekend in the US presidential race, winning a Grammy award in addition to sweeping to a caucus victory in the whitest state in US.

The African-American challenger to the United States' white domination beat former presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton to the Grammy for the Best Spoken Word (for the audio version of his book The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream ) even as he won another state caucus on Sunday to edge ahead of establishment favourite Hillary Clinton.

But the Grammy paled before what Obama pulled off on the political front. Maine, the fourth state he won over the weekend, is the whitest state in America (97% white). Even the Obama camp had written off the state for Hillary Clinton. Obama beat Clinton 59-40 to take a majority of state's 24 delegates, one of the smallest in the country and rather marginal in the larger scheme of things.
