Sneed in the Sun-Times: Penn may follow Solis-Doyle
Camp Clinton Hillaryville . . .

February 12, 2008
BY MICHAEL SNEED Sun-Times Columnist

Hmmm? Will the ouster of Hillary Clinton's campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle, who hails from Chicago, be followed by another abrupt departure?

• • To wit: Will Hillary's political strategist, Mark Penn, be knocked down a peg or two?

• • Translation: Word is new campaign chairman Maggie Williams will now call the shots -- and not be controlled by Penn, who controlled Doyle.

4. 2 little, 2 late? Weight, Penn's not so little.
I wonder when someone will do a post mortum on the Iowa fiasco. They spent more money, getting horrible results, with poor coordination, bad planning and no real picture of dealing with serious opposition, than anyone else, Romney and Guiliani included.

7. If anything like this happens
It will happen within the next week. The Clinton campaign right now is just trying to survive the rest of February to setup the big showdown on March 4. After Super Tuesday played out to be a wash, I think it was clear Obama would have the advantage for the rest of the month. Any bad news coming out of the Clinton campaign will be pushed out during this time. That way its good news only starting February 20. After likely losses next week in HI and WI, Clinton needs to change the narrative leading up to March 4, and there is no way to do that if sour news is being released daily. Any more fund raising woes, staff changes, etc will come out in the next week.

8. Gracious.
It's always a bad sign if a boxer's corner tries to change its make-up in between rounds.

9. As an Obama supporter
who does not 'hate' Clinton, I promise to donate $ to her campaign if Penn is out.
That man should have no place in a Democratic campaign. And if she dumps him I'll send some financial love her way.
