does a *statement* or petition to the DNC exist?
I came here today wondering if there were a petition to the DNC (or Howard Dean) where I could express how unhappy I would be if the will of the people were subverted by superdelegates and that I would have to consider not voting in the general election if that were to happen.

A search brought me to this thread:

In it, cloudythescribbler says: "Possibly, someone could draw up a NON-candidate-partisan statement, including both supporters of HRC AND Obama etc, and collect signatures insisting that if either candidate gets a clear majority of the pledged delegates THAT HAVE been awarded during the primary campaign, the Democrats should unite behind that candidate. Then I have no doubt that Brazile would sign it and publicize it, and that Howard Dean would at least lend a receptive ear.

This statement would HAVE to be available for more than the usual 24-48 hour time limit on Democratic Underground, a policy that would require at least SOME active cooperation from the site Administrators. (Someone on especially good terms with them might approach them perhaps even with a draft of the statement)"

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I agree completely. And, like jefferson_dem said in the thread, "The Party should expect a severe backlash if the SDs don't do the right thing."

My question is: Does a petition like this exist either within DU or somewhere else?
Any help would be appreciated.

1. I think
being alone in the spotlight will do wonders for our brave politicians. They will have initiated a purge or division of the party and doom for the unfairly awarded candidate in the fall. Many are dumb enough but few are brave enough to do it so openly.

However, what happens if it is arguably a veritable tie? What is the convincing boundary or most favored advantage for either candidate at which the superdelegates should wisely move into line? What if it isn't that simple? Hillary has something of an incumbent's advantage built in that makes a challenger have to earn more and work harder just to pull even. That is a broader concept than just the superdelegate final role. Yes, keep up the heat, but practically speaking you had better put more energy into winning big in the upcoming primaries- which is the best way to make this dubious voting bloc irrelevant and responsive- as it ultimately wishes to be.

2. Winning Big is what didn't happen in the GE of 2000 and 2004
and I'm afraid it's going to be the story of what didn't happen leading up to the democratic convention of 2008.
