Super Delegates on the Morning Show on CBS
I haven't seen this posted yet... They had a few Super Delegates on the Morning Show this morning. Each one of them answered the question about if they had been contacted by the campaign. ALL of them had said they'd been contacted by Clinton's campaign, and none mentioned Obama. One had lunch with Chelsea, one had a phone call from Madeline Albright, and I don't remember the other details. (I have tried in vain to find a video or text about this, but don't see it anywhere.)

I'm not sure if it bugs me that the Clinton campaign is working them so hard, or that Obama doesn't seem to be! But it was very telling. A personal visit from the candidate's daughter? That's pretty impressive. I guess she's really counting on keeping the super delegates she has and trying to pull in some more.

3. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was on Joe Madison this morning saying FL Must be seated
and that superdelegates should decide because they know who will be the best candidate to win the general.

I was seething!

7. Top Obama Strategist Axelrod on Superdelegates...(warninig: obama supporters will be so pissed)
AXELROD: I think that the role of the superdelegate is to act as, sort of, a party elder. These are elected officials from across the country and they're supposed to exercise their judgment as to what would be best for the party. And as they look at this, they need to decide who would be the strongest candidate for the party…

...

AXELROD: I think they and all the superdelegates should vote according to what they think is best for the party and the country. And I think that we need the strongest possible candidate against John McCain…

9. I am not pissed at all. Actually that was the intention as defined
some time ago. HOWEVER, there should be no such thing as a "Super Delegate" in the first place. My question to Hillary supporters is this:

Do you feel comfortable if the meetings and phone calls are doing back room deals for political agendas in exchange for the delegates?

If you do, then you should never ever condemn Obama's change mantra; Hillary would be doing EXACTLY what he has been talking about.

11. 100% agreement.
And hopefully, they'll be able to answer themselves if they vote against the will of the people. Because regardless of which side it would fall, "the people" will go crazy if they do.

4. The fact is what you missed was SD have been contacted
The kid that had breakfast with Chelsea was contacted by Kerry. If you take your blinders off maybe you'd not be so biased.

6. Who pissed in your Cheerios?
:eyes:

I was pretty even-handed in my post. People like you lashing out at others are 90% of the reason why GD: P is so viscous.

13. I thought it was great
that Dan Abrahms had that superdelegate on for a pretty long segment.

The more publicity this issue gets, the better, I think.

5. I have heard talking heads repeat ad-nauseum that SD's will reflect the will of the people
But most interviews I have seen indicate that they feel they are justified in going with their own choice, regardless of how their respective states voted.

The twenty year old SD (who has never voted) on Dan Abrams said "I am going to pick who I feel would best move the party and the country forward."

8. The ones I saw interviewed sounded pretty impartial.
One said he favored Hillary, but because he was elected as a delegate by an organization (Young Democrats chapter, I believe), he felt he should go by what they decided.

The young guy who had lunch with Chelsea (I was making breakfast at the time and missed it, but the lovely poster above pointed out that Kerry also contacted him) said he was undecided.

I liked that they were still considering their votes. It means that they're taking it very seriously.

10. I talked with a superdelegate yesterday here in Maine
This person had a call from President Clinton and a personal visit with Hillary. I don't know if the Obama campaign made any contact.

12. A personal visit?
Why would she spend valuable campaign time away from the people, to make personal visits to SDs? Hopefully he/she was a colleague and they were discussing policies in the senate as well.

Admittedly, I take issue with the fact that she's not on the ground in all the states - or sends people in her place. Where Obama actually does what he can to make it everywhere. To me, it's respecting the voters, and letting them know they matter. And true, I'm a supporter of the 50-state plan.

14. This superdelegate is not an elected official
The meeting took place just before a public appearance by Hillary, at the rally arena. Lasted about 5 minutes, I'd gather.
