I just voted in the Potomac Primary!
And check out my snazzy new avatar image.

Turnout seemed light in my Northwest DC precinct -- only two or three other voters were there, so I didn't have to wait in line to vote. I always enjoy voting -- the volunteers working the polls are always very friendly. Brought my 13-month-old son with me, and everyone was making a big fuss over him. One of the election officials asked who he was voting for, and I said he refused to tell me.

I made my selection and turned in my ballot. My son and I both got "I voted" stickers to stick on ourselves.

Out front of the polling place there were two Obama signs and no signs for any other candidates. A young woman was handing out lit for Obama. I asked if she was cold -- she said she was, but she was going inside in a moment to get warm. She said she's gonna be there all by herself until 3, and then after a couple hours off she was coming back in the late afternoon to stand there some more.

No, I'm not going to tell you all who I voted for. But I will say that I would have gladly voted for both of the frontrunners if I could. I like them both a lot, and I find most of the arguments against them here on DU to be thoroughly unpersuasive.

Feels good to vote in a contested primary. I'm enjoying the primary season a lot. As I've said before: It's finally fun to be a liberal political junkie again!

6. We wanted to have it ready yesterday.
But we're having unanticipated network problems (During fund drive week -- Arrrgh!), so Elad has been focused on that.

But with all the Republicans I didn't really expect it to be different. Hope people don't have "Snow Fear". I saw a few flakes out there a few minutes ago.

20. Traffic was surprising light at my precinct in Northern NY on Super Tuesday
It was kind of disappointing, but then again, my wife and I went around supper time, so maybe more people showed up later. The people at the sign-in table said traffic had been pretty light throughout the day.

14. Awe, they didn't have stickers for us at our polling place in NoVA but there was moderate turn-out.
My husband voted right as the polls open at 6 A.M. and I brought my young daughter with me to vote at 8:30 A.M. Thank goodness that between his friends and myself we were able to convince my husband to vote for Obama instead of Hillary. After almost 26 years of marriage, it's good to know that we have not split one Presidential Voting Ticket either in the primaries nor the G.E.

There's PEACE in our household this evening. :-)

I'm calling up my friends and friendly acquaintances up now in order to remind them to get out and VOTE!

I hope that EVERYONE who can VOTES in The Potomac Primary Today. :hi:

25. the Hillary people are at the Metro stations
I drop my husband off at Twinbrook every morning. Yesterday and today there was a woman out there with Hillary signs. Hubby said they were at other Metro stations too.

I'm pretty surprised at the lack of bumperstickers and yard signs around here. I've seen some bumperstickers but the only yard signs I've seen are for local offices or are encouraging people to vote today. fwiw, another "regular" at the Twinbrook station has had a "Kerry/Edwards 2004" bumpersticker on her car. This morning I noticed it had been replaced with an "Obama '08" sticker. She also has a "Proud to be a Democrat" and a "Proud parent of" some school stickers on her bumper.

Could've been some private property next to the polling station, however.

50. It wasn't a polling place
The Metro is the subway system here in the DC area.

As for signs and campaigning around polling places there is usually some law about how close they can be. I don't know what it is here in Maryland but back in Kansas electioneering is prohibited within 250 of the polling place (see, http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=153&topic_id=5148 when I complained about a vehicle with a homemade Bush '04 bumper sticker being parked right in front of the polling place. I took a picture of the car and showed where it had been parked before I made my compliant to the County Clerk's office.)

because our political life seemed to be held in a chokehold by forces no one could control. I congratulate you on exercising your right, as an American, to vote, and I salute you for your pride in our two outstanding front-running candidates for President.

I voted absentee in Arlington on Saturday, though I am not sure if my vote was counted, and got my little sticker :). I HATE touchscreen voting with no paper trail.

Edited to add that the poll worker said there was a high turnout that day for absentee ballots. He said it looked like a GE type turnout.

34. Right On Skinner (And Skinner v2.0) !!! - I Don't Know Exactly Why, But...
I've been feeling really good about this election cycle.

I don't know if it's because people are finally coming around to "getting it", because of the wealth of great candidates we have\had, because of the issues those candidates have addressed or were pushed to address, the record turn-out at rallies, the record turn-out at the polls...

I know it way too early to get over-confident with the primaries and with the GE, but I'm feeling downright positive this year!!!

And it kind of scares me, LOL!!!
