Ok, I just got a pledge card in the mail from the Obama campaign for $200
When they called me last friday I had told them that I was an Edwards supporter who switched to Hillary, and at the end of our rather long conversation when they asked if they could send me a pledge card I told them no. I told them that if Obama gets the nomination, I would consider donating, but at this time, no.

Now I have a pledge card for $200 in my hand.

"Thank you for your generous donation!

Dear XXXXX XXXXX,

Thank you for speaking with our caller and for pledging to Obama For America."

:wtf:

1. BULLSHIT
You hate Obama and if you got a card in the mail it's because you asked for it for the pure purpose of bitching about it. I've supported him for almost a year and I've never gotten anything that I didn't ask for. You are so full of shit.

2. wow
someone is a little grumpy.

this is why you never talk to anyone on the phone about money. I have been a telefundraiser, and this is not unstandard procedure.

Nothing trumps the Robocall I got from Pat Boone telling me that if I voted for the Democrat for Governor of Kentucky, KY would turn into a San Francisco cesspool of teh gay.

True story.

21. you mean sales of KY in KY would go up?
cause that would be a great one.

and I don't see that San Francisco would be a big step down for much of Kentucky, I gotta say.

donated. What's the big deal?

13. I think you'll find that whoever called you was a volunteer, likely
doing their best, but clearly not perfect- I wouldn't take it personally, or let it bother you.

We all make mistakes. If it really bugs you, call them and let them know. I'm pretty sure it was an accident.

peace~

20. The BO call that I got this morning came in as 'unknown caller'
no number to call, because after thinking about it I was going to call back. It was NOT to donate.

26. believe me, I understand- I'm from NH- and we always get
deluged with calls, and mail-

The bottom line is though, that except for a few, most of the people we interact with in situations like the one the OP is talking about are well meaning supporters of the candidate. It's frustrating, but not intended to offend.

At least, that's my view of it.

peace~

I'm not buying your premise. Don't you have anything better to do? Why would you give them your address??

11. My Experience On This:
I live in Wisconsin, and last week I received a call from the Obama Campaign. They asked for a donation, and I told them I was undecided (I was). I also told them that now was not a good time for me to donate. They pressed on, and finally I agreed to a small donation ($10). The man on the phone said it cost $25 just to mail the letter, so I told him, fine, send it. It came in the mail just yesterday, and last night I received a call, mentioning that they had not received my donation yet. I hung up the phone.
As I stated in another post, I will cast my vote for Hillary Clinton next week, and if Obama is the nominee, I will work very HARD for his campaign, and I mean that. The phone call will not affect my vote, although it did irritate me a bit. I got it about 7:30 p.m. cst.

15. from the other side
if you don't send that card in within 72 hours of receiving it, you aren't going to (statistically) sure, some people are logical and pay their bills weekly or whatever, but not most.

and if they told you it costs $25 to send a letter then someone needs to train their volunteers better (I am assuming this isn't standard practice) it costs about a buck to send a packet using volunteer labor. that is slimy, and I don't believe the campaign would endorse such a statement.
