Of all the votes to skip this had to be the worst one for someone whose biggest problem is convincing folks to trust him with national security.

07/26/2007 Implementing the 9/11 Commission Recommendations Act NV

That is very bad in and of itself. Here is what else he missed that day:

07/26/2007 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations NV
07/26/2007 Border Fence and Customs Appropriations NV
07/26/2007 REAL ID Funding NV

So he missed three other bills related to homeland security.

Compare this to a senator who does her job. Clinton:

07/26/2007 Implementing the 9/11 Commission Recommendations Act Y
07/26/2007 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Y
07/26/2007 Border Fence and Customs Appropriations Y
07/26/2007 REAL ID Funding Y

Of all his missed votes this is the one that will loom the largest if he is nominated. McCain also didn't show up but McCain doesn't have to prove himself on security. Obama does.

Hillary voting for it gives her something to use against McCain. She may even, if successful, be able to use it to take the security issue from McCain instead of merely neutralizing him on it.

2. Assuming she's been 100% honest, and she's been consistent on this,
I do like her position on foreign policies.

Thank you for posting.

Either candidate will have hurdles. So will (McCain).

I can't wait for the debates. Having lived through 2004, and how Kerry couldn't stand up to Bush's questions or ask them in return, any debate between the Dem and the Repub will be closely watched. (Kerry was a poor candidate for being so weak. Almost deliberately weak... rewatch those debates; the flip-flop arguments aimed back at him would have cost Bush the election.)

3. One more nail for the GOP. If Obama gets the nomination they will slaughter him on
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 01:39 PM by demo dutch
stuff like this. When the GOP starts attacking him, is he going to play the race card? I hate to bring this up but it's an ugly reality. There are still large pockets in this country that will not vote for an African-American still. We'll see what happens when they step into the election booth by themselves rather out in the open like in a caucus who'll they end up voting for.
Then there's the experience factor and so on. At least with the Clintons, we've been there before asfar as the GOP attacks is concernced. I'm very pessimistic at this point.

4. Is this really a good argument to bring up today?
Because the whole reason people are talking about Hillary's absence today is because of how hypocritical this argument has become.

6. Yes it highlights the fake outrage today
Obama couldn't vote on protecting the nation, Obama also couldn't vote on children's health care, but hey he voted to allow a few lawsuits to go through (although he voted to restrict the overall right to sue corporations in 2005 along with the rethugs and DLC while Hillary voted against it)! In the real world it will be the 9/11 commission and other security bills that will be remembered. Only on the netroots is FISA a big deal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy to see you shit in your own nest like this. I'm just wondering if you're aware you're doing it.

7. Where was Sen. Clinton on retroactive immunity (telecoms) vote today?
Obama was there to oppose retroactive immunity for telecom companies that spied on us for the government. Senator Clinton was not present to vote.
