Edwards will endorse to help keep his message out there-- period!

Edwards will endorse to help keep his message out there-- period!

John Edwards believes strongly in his message, anti-poverty, anti-lobbyist, etc

He wants to keep his message out there. The best way at the moment may be to endorse one of the candidates and then
personally campaign for them and at the same time keep his message alive to add emphasis to his message.

In the best of all words he would endorse both or neither, and then campaign with both on the days in which they agreed to focus on his message. However, the reality of politics in the USA may force him to choose.

Note that after the primaries are over, he can campaign in the GE with either of the candidates should they choose to emphasize his message.

SO, his prime consideration at the moment is how to get the maximum traction for his message NOW so as to lay the groundwork for its future realization.

Likely his choice will be made on this criterion above all.

I just posted this as a reply to another thread on Edward's endorsement, but I decided it merited more wide distribution as its own topic, because I think it reflects the truth of the matter.

2. Thats nice, but he is going to have a direct effect on the nominee by endorsing...

I for one am not in favor of him doing that at this time, but what the hell do I know anyway? If he were going to endorse, he should have done it before Super Tuesday, not now.

Edited to say:

For the record, I was an Edwards supporter before he suspended his campaign.

3. when will he determine which candidate has kissed his ass enough and promised him the most
I do not like how he has meetings with the two busy frontrunners and holds his endorsement like a treat above the heads of the hungry candidates. I understand that his message is out there and it is his right do endorse one or the other. But to make it a game during the primary season just turns me off a bit. I like Edwards and would like to see him on the Supreme Court, but this grovelling for his endorsement leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

5. Do we know who is initiating the meetings?
I find groveling distasteful myself, but I don't see that it's Edwards' fault that Hillary and Obama are pressuring him (if they are) for an endorsement. Maybe like a lot of us he really doesn't see much difference between the two. Maybe he likes them both (or more likely their positions), or maybe he dislikes them both, equally.

I hope he doesn't endorse either one of them, but if he does, I'm sure he has his reasons, just like all the rest of us.

6. Edwards will choose the one who best keeps his message and implements
In the midst of the partisan spin about Edwards, I would like to re-itereate this thought.

If Edwards chooses, he will choose the candidate best able to keep Edward's messages out there, and actually IMPLEMENT them.

This is likely a very difficult and tricky decision for him, and I wish him the best in making it.
