What its like to be in a politically mixed marriage |
|
We had to vote today.
I dislike both candidates. I can't decide which one I dislike more.
Sparkly is a nicer person than I. She rationally disagrees with both on certain points, but inherently likes them.
We both voted for the same person.
For very different reasons.

1. My wife, a registered independent, couldn't vote in the primaries. |

I voted for Richardson as a protest vote, since he was still on the ballot despite dropping out sometime ago. Clinton won Oklahoma, which shocked the hell out of me.

2. I'm a Dem, married to an Indie. |

My husband is an ex-Libertarian. He went Independent about 15 years ago. We're both pro-choice, anti-war, and we both can't stand Chimp. He's an issues voter, I'm a straight ticket voter. I started out an Richardson supporter, he started out a Biden supporter, and I'm pretty sure he will vote Dem in November, as I will. He likes that McCain reached across the aisle for things like CFR, but doesn't like his position on the war, or his ins with BushCo. Neither Hillary nor Obama have grabbed him completely yet. He's weighing his choices carefully, as am I.

3. For the first time in 43 years my husband and i voted for |

different presidential candidates. However, in November we will be back in sync. It was bound to happen sometime. We're both quite independent thinkers. z
