WHAT IF, Hillary wins something tonight? What if Obama loses VA?
Is anyone thinking about this?

I guess I just don't like the media OWNING this story anymore, that Obama is running away with it...etc.

Hillary is an extremely strong candidate and I do respect what she brings to the table!

And it will likely be the usual suspects making the charges, too.

like Maryland perhaps (the Gov. there is supporting her). I wouldn't be surprised if that happened tonight.

Never did. She may win one, maybe two. I don't trust polls.

Keep those expectations low, folks. :)

10. I don't think that's the way it will play out, though.
Obama is so expected to win, that a loss will be the big headline. That said, I'm not too worried about any of the three contests tonight. I'm worried about what the delegate count will look like on the morning of March 5, and then again on April 23.

22. Ohio and Penn. have the largest margins for Clinton.
I think Obama will close the 10 point polling gap in Texas. He'll have a couple of weeks to work on Ohio.

He'll have a month and a half for Penn. Those 20 polling points for Clinton should fade as he takes a clear lead tonight, and more superdelegates will feel confident enough to give him a cushion.

28. Yeah, it's a while between Ohio and Penn., but...
unlike the gap between Super Tuesday and March 4, Obama won't have a 10-primary run of victories to buoy the campaign. In fact, between Ohio and Penn., there are only two primaries, Wyoming and Mississippi. And while I think he'll do well in Miss., the closed primary in Wyoming could easily go Hillary.

The time between March 4 and April 22 will be tough for Obama, I think. But, following Penn., if he can keep it close, he can once again collect a string of victories, which will hopefully lock up the nomination.

34. No, it's not possible
Look at the steady poll numbers. Not to mention horrid weather across the western parts of VA and MD will depress voting in areas where Hillary has her strongest support. I live right across the border from both states in the eastern WV panhandle and the roads are absolutely treacherous. I slid sideways through an intersection early this morning and it's only gotten worse throughout the day!

Believe me, as an HRC supporter I wish it this wasn't so, but I am a realist.

And just a word of advice here and I know this will make some of you mad but I don't intend it that way -- what comes off as hand-wringing makes folks look immature. Doesn't matter which side is guilty of it, okay? Hillary is going to lose badly tonight. Focus your energies on your next goal.

Peace!

And remember the primary goal of everyone here, no matter how they vote, is to rid ourselves of the cancer that's been eating away at our country for the past eight years.

Just remind yourself that a year from now the Bushreich will be but a bad memory. Isn't that fansTAStic! :7

55. Jeb will not be a problem in 2012 if Obama is the incumbent. He will not even run imo,
The Bushes hate to lost too much. Besides, brother George has poisoned the well for Jebbie. There are not enough years left in Jebbie's political life for the Republicans to recover and go with another Bush.

12. There's no way. Maybe March 6th.
HC is still ahead in the March 6th states if by a much slimmer margin than previously, so she might pick up e.g. Texas or Ohio or both.
I wouldn't count on that though after Obama sweeps today's states.

Looks like Obama's got it wrapped up to me.

33. Sigh, please pay attention. Obama supporters are supposed to vote on the 4th, Clinton's on the 6th
Apparently not all the announcements got mailed out. But trust me, things'll go a lot smoother if we follow this system.

Also, note, Obama voters are supposed to go to the buildings marked "Polling Station" and the Clinton voters are supposed to go to the buildings marked "Denny's".

18. well then Virginia would count
Relax and read this very unusual poll that breaks it down by congressional district with more than 14,000 respondents

http://constituentdynamics.com/2008/PotomacPrimary.pdf

While they will be splitting delegates Obama, according to them will pick up a net 30 and take every congressional district and every single demographic.

Its a new pollling method and it will be interesting to see how it compares with the results tonight.

19. Wow.
Some of you need to just chill out. Obama is favored by 20+ points in pretty much every poll.

He isn't losing any of these states. That you can bank on.

Some of you have absolutely no confidence in Obama. It's pretty annoying, to say the least.

Have some faith. He'll be fine.

He'll win all 3 states.

32. Better to be careful than be sorry
Hillary supporters are often saying the Obama campaign won't know what hit it when it goes up against the GOP. So it behooves Obama supporters to be cautious and respect the fact that we're still in a tight race with a strong opponent.

Though I said it at the time (not on DU) more to keep myself motivated than because I knew it to be true, losing in New Hampshire was the best thing that happened to the Obama campaign. There was some irrational exuberance after Iowa and a win in New Hampshite would have made everyone too cocky. As it was, finding out that the polls aren't always reliable made supporters think hard about whether they were willing to double down i they wanted to stay in the game.

It's good that those of us who want an Obama presidency, while savoring the positive results from last weekend and feeling hopeful about this evening, are still focused on the challenge that remains ahead in Texas and Ohio. We need to get some wins there, rather than failures to lose. And even if all goes as planned, summer and fall mean a lot of work to fight McCain (I assume) in the GE.

I just happen to think Obama's the safer bet and will bring in a newer batch of cronies than Clinton. A Clinton nomination won't bother me too much. But Obama should be able to hold onto his momentum if Clinton only wins one state.
