Here in Virginia, on a snowy day
I waited till the roads were a little more driver friendly, and I headed on over to the polls. I placed my vote for Obama, but got misty over the sight of John Edwards name at the very bottom of the list under Dodd and Biden. I did think it was odd that Obama was at the top, for I always believed candidates are listed alphabetically, however, I hope my vote helps him lock in a position!

While I was there, the older woman in front of me, (since apparently you have to declare Dem or Rep.)..said "Well, she had thought about the Dems, and they seemed intelligent , but she was voting republican..."... I thought it was interesting..(stupid, but noteworthy)....also on the registration table they seemed to have more Democrat slips handy as opposed to Rethugs....so my friends, that is my honest report of what happened today here in Northern Virginia.

1. Repubs do tend to prefer the stupid candidates.

At least she was aware of her choice.

3. Sometimes the rotate ballot positions across precints, or they pick a letter out of a hat

and start the ballot list with that letter. Generally speaking, they try to counteract the advantage that ballot position provides (and I think it may be as much as 3% in some cases, at least that's the number that was bandied about re: NH) or ensure randomness in the choice of placement.
