HUCKABOOM IN VIRGINIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-New exit poll
Presumptive nominee Mccain cancel!!

http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/

Link basically says that less than a point seperates Mccain and Huckabee in the exit poll data.

Huckabee is rising!!

1. So? He's not going to win. He's just enjoying the publicity.

2. Hopefully he can lead them to a brokered convention
That would keep the infighting going until August and may even spare us a McCain nomination.

4. Ummmm...
This is 4 races in a row that Mccain has lost now since being declared the presumptive nominee.

11. Doesn't matter. As long as there aren't a lot of "winner take alls", McCain will
get enough delegates to win, especially if Romney gives him his delegates. McCain is the nominee, unless something, er, unexpected happens to the old man.

It doesnt matter - Mccain is way ahead...
If MCcain wins any primary tonight he will Mathematically eliminate everyone else. Don't forget Romney is out there with 280+ Delegates.. He would be in a great position to get the VP spot by giving his delegates to Mccain, undercutting Huk. If Mccain wins all 3 + Romney's Delegates - MCcain is the nominee officially - no brokered convention.

He can see the Dem win coming like everybody else. He's gonna run an "I told you so" campaign in 2012 behind this bullshit.

14. Rasmussen
Furthermore, Rasmussen just has it 48-31 in his daily tracking poll (Mccain leading Huckabe). Clinton led Obama by that much at one point in the daily tracking poll as well and look where Obama is now.

Huckabee could yet make this thing interesting.

10. Go Huck go.
I'm actively rooting for Huckabee at this point. Doesn't it really show how clueless the political pundits are? They weren't expecting him to win any more states after Super Tuesday.

15. can someone explain this to me about Huckabee and McCain?
I thought the Republican primaries/caucuses were almost all winner-take-all. Yet when the election guys on TV do their magic computerized map stuff, and they start projecting into the future, they keep showing that even if Huckabee wins every election left, McCain would keep picking up enough delegates to get the nomination.

23. Most of them are winner take all. But a few allow proportional. Others are WTA by district
In Texas we divide the state delegates by state senate districts rather than by US Congress districts. I assume the Republicans here organize the same way. So while state-wide delegates are WTA by state vote, in other states delegates might be awarded by different WTA rules, like WTA by winner in each district or in each county, or by any other number of methods each state's party might allocate its national convention votes by.

is one less day that they will spend trashing Democrats. Simple concept.

He won't win the nom, but he will keep the party split and prevent McCain from starting a full national campaign for a while at least.
