Weather may well impact the Potomac Primaries and cancel the final hours. |
|
The weather in the Baltimore/Washington Corridor has just turned to shit. An ice storm is hitting us and it is the height of rush hour. Roads closed everywhere due to accidents. Even the DC Beltway has closed all the on and off ramps (for salting?) Information right now is hard to get. The local newzradio's website is slow as molasses as are the traffic pages on the teevee station web sites.
Sparkly is out in it, on her way back from DC.
In any case, this could well have significant impact on the primary voting. The area affected by this storm is the population center for all three jurisdictions. I would guess anyone planning to vote tonight will just skip it.

2. This is why only Florida should count, obviously. |
|
The weather is just too treacherous for voting anywhere else, it's unfair.

3. I've already voted today, but that 's only because |
|
I had to leave work early for another reason. This could have a huge impact on the race. Since most people of working age vote after work, I can imaging the voting demographics being skewed towards retirees and others who are home during the day.

Hopefully most people knew this was coming and got out earlier.

In my own personal experience, I enjoy horrible election day weather because I feel more proud for voting, having slogged my way out to the polling place and back.
Of course, I probably wouldn't feel that way if my car ended up T-boned by a telephone pole.
Stay safe, everybody.
