Who is up on RNC rules? What happens to Romney's delegates?
Is it at ALL possible that he can 'give' them to Huckabee en masse or do they go uncommitted like JREs do on the Dem side?

1. Trust me. The GOP will do what ever they want with them. They won't care what's fair.

2. Since Romney suspended his campaign the delegates
remain his just as Edwards has retained his delegates. Were Romney to formally withdraw and end his campaign, he would lose his delegates. As a practical matter, he is likely to release them at the convention.

3. Do they direct/assign them or are they free agents like JRE?

5. The poster above is correct
and I believe (both parties) who only suspend their campaign are free to direct their pledged delegates .

6. Heya sniffa. This is where I am confused
Edwards can suggest where his delegates go, but it is their SD-ish vote. They are free agents. Whether they buck his call is another issue, of course.

I know Romney's ego is enormous (thus making this unlikely), but does the RNC allow him to (best case) assign his delegates to Huckabee where they can't vote whatever they want?

7. I "think"
it depends on the rules of the states the delegates come from. If they're pledged-pledged, I think either can give them away. If they're those delegates that have to go to state-something-something to be confirmed, and possibly given away to say, Mondale, then I guess those won't probably end up at their destination.. but they could.
