12. We DON'T have limos... |
|
but yeah, we do LOVE our Starbucks here in Northern VA. And golf courses. And shopping malls, but we hate the traffic that goes along with it.
That said, when you go past Fredricksburg (like 60 miles south of DC on I95), its like a whole different state. Good luck in finding a Starbucks - you won't find one till you get down to Williamsburg.

Most of the military folks living here in Northern VA are very conservative, and they could care less for good coffee. Once you've spent six months on a ship at sea, drinking 12 hour-old coffee, your taste buds for the stuff pretty much have died. My office mate, an ex Commander, told me that he'd often just add water to the sludge in the bottom of the pot and swish it around - this way he didn't have to wait for a new pot to brew.
Starbucks liberals, if the saying has any meaning in NoVA, implies folks either in the IT, biotech, or govt contracting business who make roughly 80-200K, live in single family homes or 300K+ townhouses, drive nice cars, and generally vote democratic (except for John Warner - we like him 'cause he got rid of Ollie North).
Although, I would say that liberals in VA aren't really like liberals in say, Massachusetts. We mostly consider ourselves left-leaning independents.
EDIT: BTW, I drive a Toyota Camry Hybrid. And even being able to use the High Occupancy Vehicle lane, it took me 2 1/2 hours to get home today...
