Right Now - Clinton Rally - Little Hispanic Boy with Sombrero and Mariachi Outfit |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 09:06 PM by sloppyjoe25s
On CNN Right now.
She is onstage in Texas RIGHT NOW - with a little hispanic boy with a Mexican Mariachi outfit (wtf?!?), accepting a HUGE HUGE bouquet of flowers!!
Strobe lights - U2 "Streets Have No Name" blaring - crowd going WILD!!
This is a spectacle not rivalled since her Florida victory speech!! I missed it - what did she win tonight?!?!?
I know - it's CNN - so they are probably faking the whole thing.

8. Exact duplicate of the Cisco Kid outfit- for you older folks |
|
That was a TV series back in the 1950's, that was about as stereotyped Mexican as you could possibly imagine. I think it would have been much more effective to showcase parents and kids in the audience in normal, everyday wear.

15. Well, Texas's latino population is from Mexico.. |
|
I am not offended by it.. and I am not mexican.. however, the general mentality is that the majority of us are from Mexico.. which blows my mind!...

I thought she was going to pick him up and give him a hug, but I guess it wouldn't have looked good if the sombrero fell off or something.

17. U2 "Streets Have No Name" |
|
I was watching that too. OK, everyone at the rally went along to support Hillary and have a good time (and I hope they do, it's great that they're energized).
But what an odd choice of song - am I the only one that thought these are NOT the lyrics she wants associated with her? Well, maybe she was just relying on the pulsing bassline and pretty guitar riff. Not criticizing - just scratching my head. Being Irish, i've known U2 since the early 80s so as soon as I heard this the lyrics began running through my head and I was thinking 'whaaaaat?'
I want to run I want to hide I want to tear down the walls That hold me inside I want to reach out And touch the flame Where the streets have no name
I want to feel, sunlight on my face See that dust cloud disappear without a trace I want to take shelter from the poison rain Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name Where the streets have no name Were still building Then burning down love, burning down love And when I go there I go there with you... (its all I can do)
The cities a flood And our love turns to rust Were beaten and blown by the wind Trampled into dust Ill show you a place High on ta desert plain Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name Where the streets have no name Still building Then burning down love Burning down love And when I go there I go there with you (its all I can do)

20. You can't have a rally (or other big event) in South Texas |
|
without mariachis & folklorico dancers. It's the law.
Actually, I think it's pretty cool, myself. Nice music, great dancing = good crowd entertainment leading up to the Big Show.
