I think it is over and it is time for all of us to unite around our candidate. |
|
I've gone from Kucinich to Edwards and then to Obama, and I think it is now pretty clear that Obama has the support of the majority of the party. It is therefore time for us here, and for Democrats in general, to put aside the intra-party infighting, to start looking forward toward victory in November, and to let all the bad blood pass.

Agreed - Hillary still has some fight left. |
|
There's still a lot of work for the Obama campaign before they can claim the nomination.
I will go out on a limb and say that Clinton's campaign is definitely in trouble. They're now officially behind in delegate counts - by close to 100 pledged delegates, and now they're behind even when superdelegates are included in the count. Obama has a huge amount of momentum, and most of the states coming up are likely to go for Obama and continue to drive his momentum. At this point, Clinton's looking to Ohio and Texas to catch up and stay in the fight, but there's no guarantee that those two states will be more than too little, too late. Every victory from Obama takes a little more wind from Clinton's sails.
It could turn around - who knows. But Obama's clearly got the upper hand now.

Yeah, lets tell Hillary to give all her money to Obama. Ain't gonna happen. If Obama get the nomination - which is anyone guess - he's on his own.

Besides Obama has more popular votes from her in the "legal" primaries. Florida and Michigan do not count because they were not legal primaries.

I'm an Edwards supporter, but you're not going to make many Hillary friends telling them to surrender before Texas and Ohio.
It's really insulting.

telling Clinton supporters to surrender, especially in light of the ugliness, is seriously going to begin healing wounds?
I agree that the "craptacular" is not good, but guess who did more crapping?
You.
Now you might not have done it intentionally, but you did so indirectly.
You know that.
And you'd feel the same way if Hillary supporters said the same thing about Obama.

You're implying that the Clinton supporters who have worked hard for her should throw in the towel before the game is over.
It's fascinating why you don't view telling people to surrender early, insulting.

Meanwhile, it's a good idea to be sensitive to other people's points of view.
(Even when it IS over, it'll be a good idea to be conscious of the crushing disappointment a lot of people will feel -- either way it goes! -- and not rush or pressure them.)

We need to STAY united on a single message.
We need to beat McCain. Up to a point, I don't care how... and I don't care WHO.
I think it's important for people to continue voting, to continue to carry momentum.
Try to understand what's wrong with what you're saying. As the guy said about the superbowl.
You're asking that we stop counting before some people have even voted.
DON'T DO THAT!!!!!!!!!!
That's a media misprint and a Republican tactic. If you respect DEMOCRACY, then you don't call the race until the horses cross the finish line. You can bet all you want, and you can change the odds throughout the race. But you must NOT call the race before its won.

People should indeed go vote. The should go vote for Obama. Mrs. Clinton should graciously withdraw, as did Mr. Edwards, as did Mr. Kucinich, as did Mr. Dodd and Mr. Biden and (I think) Mr. Gravel.

19. No, I don't think so. Not yet. |
|
I think it's undemocratic to do that before everyone's had their say. It's something I've never liked about the primary process, honestly. And I think Hillary's still got a lot of fight left and a lot left to say and I'm interested in hearing it. (For the record, I'm an Obama supporter who'd be happy to vote for Hillary if she was the nominee. I think they'd both be good Presidents.)
I sure am looking forward to letting the bad blood pass, though. And REALLY looking forward to seeing DU stop giving the Repubs ammo for the GE, either way.

24. I'm enjoying the debate |
|
Having two great candidates express themselves and push ideas - and ideals - is great for democracy. Clinton and Obama's debate has become one about the future of the Democratic party.
In addition, if John Edwards makes an endorsement, it'll be because the candidate he endorses promises to address poverty and the future of the American middle class.
I see this as a big win for us. All eyes are upon our candidates and their messages now have a chance to seep into the American psyche.
I'm stoked.

|
What an amazing opportunity he presents and represents. After JFK, Jr. died so tragically prematurely, I then longed for Al Gore to get some sort of reckoning for 2000 but realized that was not to be, and now I am amazed to feel engaged and hopeful again and that has everything to do with the skinny kid named Barack Obama. He is an amazing man and Democrat.

Kucinich had the right idea; Edwards at least had a clue; Obama and Clinton are just more corporate stooges.
This isn't about intra-party fighting, it's about drawing a line in the sand and telling these people that there are some things that we, as Americans, not just Democrats, will not stand for.
Let me make it clear with just one example: we need Universal, single-payer health care to keep insurance companies from killing children by refusing to pay for life-saving operations; this is the extreme characterization, but it just happened last month!
These people know what is right, they know what they should do, but they consistently act against the best interests of our country for the sake of profit, and I will not vote for them.
