Honest question. if you're a Hillary supporter
and she drops out, will you turn around and contribute to/support Obama with all you've got? I know I will do likewise. But I didn't like one Hillary supporter who said the "Democratic base" wouldn't support Obama if he wins and Obama will need their money.

What do you think? Are you going to hit the "SEND" button on contributions to Obama if he wins the Democratic nomination?

People need to grow up and realize that the "Nadar" days are over this is about more than our petty likes and dislikes..this is about the actual survival of American democracy.

Wake up my friends let's let our candidates fight it out until the end and expect the candidate that does not win to show the way and support the winning Democratic candidate!! That's all...

4. I've said this before...
...and I'll say it here now. I've actually come into a bit of a windfall this fiscal year, and no, it's not been due to the Bush economy or tax cuts, but I will give the maximum permissible and legal donation to the Democratic nominee for the general election. And this isn't over yet, as much as I, as an Obama supporter, might want it to be (because I can't wait to see Obama tear into McCain in that polite yet scathing manner he has), so that check could very well go to Hillary Clinton as the nominee. And I'd be ok with that, because I have kids, and they have spent their ENTIRE LIVES under the umbrella of fear and hatred and hopelessness that Bush has clouded this nation with, and we know McCain would just be a continuation of the same Bush policies.

Another four years of the GOP is simply not an option.

I am simply more excited about her than I am about him.

As soon as we get a nominee picked a sign goes up in my yard the next day! I want it to say Hillary/Obama '08 BUT even if it says Obama/X I'll be glad to put it up too.

36. Same here! AFAIC, if we nominate a candidate
that is docile (for lack of a better word) enough or tame enough to encourage repukes to cross over to vote for.....well, the Democratic party might as well cease to exist!

He'll spend his time in office trying to keep his base support of repukes and timid/center Democrats in tact, which means he'll give in over and over and over again.

He may get my vote in November, but not much else.

Obamacans......Puhleeeeeeez!

Unless he makes certain campaign promises -- for example, to fully protect a woman's right to choose; to not make compromises with regard to the marriage amendment; to fully commit to stem cell research, among others. I'm sorry, but I don't trust him on some issues and the for the compromises he seeks there will have to be sacrifices. I don't women and gays to fall into that category. I also have real issues wth some other items in his platform. I will support the Dem candidate, but don't ask me to cheerlead. He hasn't sold me.

...has the opposite effect as well. Don't you get it? People don't like being told what to do, and they really don't like being told they'll "come around."

Think back to when you were a child, and you were angry or upset, and some well-meaning ass of a grown-up tried to cheer you up with the old: "Awww, come on now, Grumpy-Wumpy! I know you have a smile in there that wants to come out! I can see it! You're gonna smile any second! Tickle-wickle! Koochy-koo?"

Didn't you want to, oh, I don't know, push the person out the nearest window?

65. My country
as for Obama or McCain. If by some slim chance Obama is allowed to win, he will not govern as a Democrat. He will be under control of corporate America and things will continue pretty much the same as they are now.

I'll say it again, if Obama is allowed to win, he will not answer to the people who elected him, he will be just another puppet of corporate America.

I love my country too much to support a failed candidacy. Someone, sometime has to stand on principle and begin th long road to taking our country back.

53. Obama's use of right wing talking points re health care
will also be used against his own health care plan by opponents. Unless he's really dumb, he knows this, but chose to use them anyway, intentionally dooming his plan altogether or forcing him to make it even weaker than it already is.

I don't think she'd be bad at enacting policy. I don't agree with the "pragmatic" way she and her husband choose to govern which almost makes party irrelevant and which made Bush's claim that a vote for Gore or Bush was one and the same have some credence...but I do know she would accomplish some good things.

I support either one as a major improvement over Bush or Mccain.

Been there, done that for Kerry. Not going to do it anymore. Media killed Dean. Media killed Edwards. Media is gunning for Hillary. Media will probably slam Barack. If people want to watch TV and get their info, get led around by the media, that's their business.

I can vote against McCain, but that's not the same thing as a vote for Barack, is it? Ever since Carter, all my votes have been against somebody, not for.

46. It is not the insults. It is the glee in Hillary's loss that bothers me.
It's that some of his supporters on this board relish tearing down the Clintons. When we buy into the RW meme about the Clintons we do so at the peril of our party.

I am really not feeling any "unity" right now.

I think if I took a break from this place for awhile, that might change. Or once Obama gets the nomiantion, and the Repubs start attacking him, that might change. But right now, I am just disappointed in what is increasingly looking like a loss for Sen. Clinton.

37. I'm not a Hillary supporter anymore, but I'll answer.
I started out an Edwards supporter. My support for Hillary after John dropped out was pragmatic. I thought she had the best chance of winning in Nov.

I was wrong. The more I see Barak, the more impressed I am, and I know two anti-war republicans that he's converted. (and I don't know that damn many repubs).

Barak IS our apparent nominee; and the longer I think on that, the more OK with it I am. Even if not my 1st (or 2nd) choice, we had one damn fine group of candidates this year. I think even my 3rd choice has the potential for greatness. (And, my first choice had no more than potential, either)

Whoever we elect will have dirty hands. Whoever we elect will have problems that Jesus and a band of angels couldn't solve. I think electing a candidate who can inspire and move at such a time is not a bad thing.

I'm now of the opinion that it's time to rally round our apparent nominee, Barak Obama, and start helping get ready to ensure his victory in November. Not just his victory, but his 50 state victory with coat-tails long and deep.

Our country has been taken away from us, and right now, today, Obama is our last, best, chance to take it back. Let's do it.

I'll support him.

All I've seen so far is pretty rhetoric. Rhetoric that I assume he is sincere about.

But I've yet to get a substantial answer when I ask for actual past successes of Obama that would support trusting that he is capable of delivering on his promises.

In the mean time I'll will continue to support the candidate with proven experience and past successes (and failures).

Listen to yourself, and to every other Obama supporter tonight: "Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet? Dad, are we there yet?"

Do you have any idea what the cumulative effect is of all these "Come on, come on, come on, Hillary supporters, come on, come on, will you promise to vote for Obama if Hillary drops out, will you give him money, promise, promise, please, please, PLEEEEEEEEASE?!?!?!?!" threads?

It's NOT the effect you WANT.

67. Not until I hear at least an acknowledgement from Obama
of what McClurkin did at his concert and that it was wrong of Obama to invite him. Otherwise he has my vote and not a thing else.

69. On the basis of the damage Obama has done to future Democratic chances in Florida, I would say NO
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 07:01 AM by Maribelle
If Hillary drops out, I believe any support Obama would receive in the GE in Florida would be overwhelming negated by the huge percentage of 10 million registered voters that would not take too kindly to how Obama has treated their fellow Floridians that are registered Democrats. I would imagine his strength would somewhat remain in the congressional districts he won in the primary, only. And this would prove weak at best.

71. I'll vote for him, but let you fans do the rest.
Which should be no problem for you, after all.

I'll put my money and effort into the Congressional races.
